Considering that I like both aliens and predators, I reckon I'm onto a winner

they were playing it over and over on all the TV stations last night - how did you miss it?!

I'm a huge fan of both franchises, especially the Alien movies. I also had been hoping to see an AvP film ever since I read the original Dark Horse graphic novel back in the early 1990s. Unfortunately, the movie sucked! It was a complete letdown, in every conceivable way. They had a golden opportunity to do a great flick with two of the best creatures from sci-fi and horror, and they blew it!!

Shit, that was an experience. Yeah I knew the reviews were bad but unfortunately there's shag-all on at the moment. I'm a fan of both the Alien films and Predator films but man this one was just poor. I just wanted to see if I'd come back to some comments that would confirm my experience

Well, I enjoyed it! After hearing all the sour remarks on the org 4 some time, I have 2 say I was pleasantly surprised. Hell, I was prepared 4 it, but I thought it was ok. Not great sure, but ok - it certainly wasn't as fucking awful as everybody makes out. Just depends on what yardstick you're measuring it against. And if that yardstick is the Alien franchise itself, hell - no sequel will ever stand up 2 it then will it!

Just a shame one of my fave actors (Lance Henriksen) went out like a bit of a wuss. And hey! What was wrong with the female lead? I thought she was great!

Personally, my only gripe was that I wanted more traps, more on the edge of your seat stuff. 2 be honest with u, not one of the Alien movies since Cameron's has made me jump or created any kind of tension - it's all like, yeah yeah - so what? But this at least gave me that if nothing else. So I was happy.

I mean, I LOVE Jeunet - but even that sucked, it looked fucking great tho (apart from the shitty CGI Aliens that is).

Oh by the way, thought u guys would be interested in these from pre-production on Alien III

Hey I'd gladly have a real alien burst out of me for that sum.

Now I'm gonna have to do a Kerry and say that actually I didn't find it 'as' bad as some of you guys put it (thank fack you responded all thumbsup nana ). Damn I was scared to even say I liked the title. There were a few moments that I thought were wicked...particularly their first encounter with the alien, when the Predator is about to kill someone and the alien comes and tails it one. It was kinda cool also when the Predator first realises the lead girl weren't all that bad.

As I said before the fack all else on at the mo here, but also I haven't sat down and watched a good 'horror(esque)' flick for ages so it was fun to get some adrenaline going. Oh and I saw it in French as well, so as usual the dubbing screwed up the intended dialogue I'm sure...basically a lot of "Putaine! Merde!", and aliens kinda growling in a French accent

The main problem this flick has is that its all exposition, with about twenty minutes of action. There is no suspense, and it also ignores MAJOR elements from the two franchises (the alien gestation time, the fact that the Predators can't survive cold climates, etc). It had soooo much potential, but it blew it.

I didn't remember the Predators being unable to survive in cold climates (was that in the second flick?) but I do remember that Arnie saved his ass with a simple mud bath yet that dude who slid down the shaft only to end up a half-dead icicle at the bottom still nevertheless became man-kebab.

This movie sucked real bad.
