Ren,

Sorry you're feeling so awful.

If you are taking a lot of antibiotics you might want to take some acidophilus. Antibiotics strip you of the good bacteria as well as the bad and it will help keep you "balanced".

Some studies have shown that people recover just as quickly whether they use antibiotics or not. Although sinus infections often clear up on their own, severe ones may require antibiotic treatment. Sinusitis can be a chronic and recurring problem. While it usually responds to treatment with conventional antibiotics, it has a tendency to recur. So, it is essential to follow the guidelines described below for preventing recurrence of sinusitis.

Natural guidelines and preventive measures

Flush your nasal passages regularly with a warm saline solution. This is one of the best things you can do to relieve sinus congestion and prevent sinus infections. Practice nasal douching twice a day if you have pollen allergies or an active infection. Rinse the nasal passages with a saltwater solution made by dissolving a quarter-teaspoon of salt in a cup of warm water. This is very soothing to mucous membranes. You can pour it into your cupped hand and inhale it into one nostril at a time, while closing the other with an index finger. Or, use a neti pot, a ceramic container that allows you to pour water directly into the nose. Use enough solution for it to fill your nasal cavity and spill into your mouth. Spit it out, then gently blow your nose. At first this whole process may seem uncomfortable, messy, but very soon you'll get used to it and like the way it feels. If you're susceptible to sinus problems, you should irrigate your nasal passages daily. When you have an infection, irrigate more frequently -- up to four times a day. This will help bring the infection under control more quickly.
Eliminate milk and all milk products from your diet. The protein in milk, casein, is often associated with recurrent ear infections, sinus conditions, eczema, chronic bronchitis, and asthma. This can lead to a dramatic improvement in chronic sinus problems after about two months.
Don't smoke, and avoid smokey environments. If you live in a smoggy area, you should consider moving or equip your home with air filters.
During Acute episode of sinusitis

At the first sign of sinus trouble, put hot, wet towels over your whole upper face. Work up to as much heat as you can stand, and keep applying the towels every 15 minutes. Do this three or four times a day. It is an excellent home treatment for sinus congestion and sinusitis since it promotes drainage and increases blood flow to the area.
Drink plenty of fluids to help moisten and thin the mucus in your sinuses.
Take immune-boosting Resistance Support Formula. Resistance Support Formula provides support for healthy immune function. Resistance Support Formula contains Siberian ginseng, Echinacea, Elderberry Powder, Goldenseal, Garlic, deglycyrrhizinated Licorice, Astragalus, Korean Ginseng, Bioflavonoids, Beta- Carotene, Lycopene, Reishi Mushroom and Lutein. Each component has been proved by clinical studies to be effective in improving immune function against infections and/or cancer.
Take 2,000 milligrams of C-1000 (vitamin C) three times a day, cut back if develop loose stool.
Eat some raw garlic daily or take Garlic (Odorless) daily.
Take Stinging Nettles twice daily. It has shown to be effective especially in allergy, hay fever sufferers.
Some naturally oriented physicians believe that recurring sinus infections are due to colonization of the sinuses and GI tract with Candida albicans (Yeast). Take Pro-biotic twice a day to strengthen your friendly bacterial colony which will eliminate overgrowth of Candida albicans (Yeast). Some people who have been treated with Pro-biotic have prevented recurrent episodes of sinus infection.
Inhaling steam with a little oil of eucalyptus in it may also ease the clogging.
If necessary, acupuncture can be remarkably effective at relieving acute sinusitis. It can ease pain and promote sinus drainage within minutes of the placement of the needles.

Bite yer tongue! I am so going back and back and back. The people are real and down to earth there! I am so going back and back and back. As you all recall, I developed a head cold there.... (big weather changes and sick peeps on the plane) so when I flew home, I felt the most unGodly experience. Even the stewardesses told me "oh honey we never fly like this"... It is so serious the airlines PAY for their rooms and all their food and needs as they KNOW it will lead to infection...

So hence forth the cabin preasure drove the snot into unknown regions of my ears and brain. sigh So it is taking all but an act of God to get it back out of the nether regions..... I am a bad sicky... It interfears with my state of being! cry

Someone slap me....

Oh Dear heart I have hibernated to the extent the law allows over here.. More for fear it will turn uglier.

sad

I have a friend who had to fly once when she had already had a sinus infection, and one of her sinuses actually RUPTURED. omfg

Meh. Poor baby. . .comfort

A ruptured sinus would hurt like hell. omfg
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

Good info thank you. I tend to be sensitive to herbs as much as I can be meds. By Gods grace my body is very efficient in handling itself. I can't agree more with allowing the body to heal itself. In this case it isn't just the sinuses but a double inner ear infection like I have never seen. Man between the hot flashes and the dizziness I want to freak out.

On the lighter side.... great I'll be a douche bag for real! lol
