Don't expect too much of the photo part. Nice to store your pics on, but viewing them on the tiny display isn't very practical (think large and/or high quality pics).

Ideal to use for playing music, but if you're thinking about using it to basically store pics on and view pics on you're better off buying a (used) laptop. So I think it's not much different from the older Ipods, but it has a few handy features for pics. The name is a bit misleading if you ask me. Kinda expensive too, but these cool little gadgets are rarely cheap.
