What type of voting machine did you have?

My town got these touch screen deals. Felt like I was at the ATM.hmm

Call me crazy but there was something very satisfing about clicking those little switches and pulling that big old lever to open the curtain and cast your vote.

A little message telling me "your vote as been processed, thank you." Just didn't do it for me.

I had some guy who said his name was Hick or Steve or something who help up 3 straws and told me to concentrate really hard on the guy I wanted to win.

He fan away fast though so I don't know if my vote was counted.

No seriously, we had these big pieces of oaktag and we had to draw the candidate we wanted to win. I hate those big fat crayons they give out.

To answer the question honestly, everyone was taken into a room and blindfolded at which point we were handed a ribbon with a sticky end to it, spun around, and told to "vote." (It bothered me that they didn't ask me for i.d.)

Oh wait, now I remember. We had to wear these special suits that were form fitting except for these huge mittens that scientifically absorbed all body heat.

We were then taken to those touch screens and told to vote while the election helpers laughed hysterically.

They had these numerous pies laid out on a long straight "table" and were told that whichever pie we chose to eat would have the picture of the person we had voted for on the bottom.

We had these heavy markers that were attached to these long strings like a plumb line and told to "spirograph" our votes into the bottom of these makeshift egg cartons.

I should have filed absentee.

Anxiety

we had to throw 2the9s in a lake. if he sunk, that means we voted for Bush. if he sunk then rose to the surface, that would be a vote for Kerry. if he sprouted wings and flew across the chicago sky instead of hitting the water, then it was a vote for Nader. if, when he hit the water, he transformed into the little mermaid and went swimming off singing disney songs, then it was a vote for that manolo blahanik person.

Same here in Seattle, King County, Washington. It takes a relatively long time to fill in the bubbles completely with the ballpoint pens provided, but since Washington state allows anyone to become an "absentee" voter upon request, the majority of people here vote by mail. At my polling place, there was only one person ahead of me in the line to sign in and be given a ballot.

I may make a request to become a permanent absentee voter for future elections, but whenever possible, I'll hand-deliver the ballot to my polling place and stick it in the scanner myself, which is allowed.
Please note: effective March 21, 2010, I've stepped down from my prince.org Moderator position.
