Where Has "Humanity" Gone?? Something I wrote this morning as it woke me up twice!!
“I CRIED TODAY”: A SOCIAL COMMENTARY By Darin Poindexter I cried today because we now live in a world or state where the “human” dynamic is severely lost. When I was young I lived in a neighborhood where no doors had to lock. Now you must live in affluent neighborhoods to attain such a peaceful existence. You actually spoke to your neighbors and their kids. The community kept a close eye on everyone in it and entering it, not because of fear or skepticism, but to sustain a certain serenity and peaceful way of life. I cried today as I walked in the morning sun witnessing many lives totally unaware of the resounding loss of social consciousness in today’s’ society. I walked the streets this morning waiting for someone to actually smile in my direction and say “Hello”. It never happened. What I seen was a multitude of humanity not caring about the elderly woman that couldn’t get on the bus on her own. I watched people passing by each other not even making eye contact or caring to even try. We have evolved into a society where there is no longer a need to feed the human side of the world. We only care about making money, wielding power and hoarding as many material items as we can in order to define our characters and successes. When you place money, power and greed in front of basic human rights, your entire society will surely suffer. Ignorance and violence is widespread, mores that I have ever witnessed in my lifetime. We now have full-blown riots erupting at little league competitions where once it was a weekly event full of fun and excitement for everyone. Parents fighting parents, coaches fighting parents, kids watching and helplessly recording and mimicking innocently as they perceive this the only way to actually interact in the world. I cried today because I can remember times where an election was simply won on the merits of a true democratic representation of the voice of its people. Today we can’t tell who is more deceitful, corrupt or outright treacherous in their intentions in getting someone into office. Suppressing of the vote. Misrepresenting certain regions. Even resorting to actual physical violence because of a political affiliation. I cried because we are now a lost collection of souls spiraling out of control, soon to crash and burn into a state of social purgatory. I cried today because I want to make a difference. I cried today because no one cares anymore. I cried today… The man who does not read good books has no advantage over the man who cannot read them. -- Mark Twain.

This is exactly why I am not a materialist person, that chit comes and goes. Kids don't have manners or know how to interact with folks because they are on computers, ipods and the like. I know all my neighbors and visa-versa we speak, can knock on the door for a cup of sugar, couple of dollars, ride to the store, whatever.

Beautifully/heartfelt... I relate with your words of expression.
I have always had a certain attitude with time and time changing... I used to think, what is this world coming to, what happened to the days of yesterday? Many years, I wondered, searched... Then, it hit me... time has always been deceitful and full of crime, hate, violence, unfriendly souls... yet... Time contains it's beautiful moments... it's moments of peace, love, compassion, care and truth. The biggest change is... not necessarily change... although the number of people and it's relevance in high population... which brings more of what has been into a higher awareness... into immediate view (we are slapped with it from all ends due to the amount of daily occurrences). If the population was the same today as is was back then (say a hundred years ago)... I truly feel more would go unnoticed, hidden... unfelt... yet in total existence as it is today. Beautiful words... Dex. I feel it... I also feel... the days of yesterday can still be obtained if we truly seek... only now we obtain a higher sense of what truly exists (for some). Perhaps wisdom plays the most critical role here. ~Endless Hugs...

It doens't discourage me, it just BOTHERS me to see what we have evolved into in my lifetime. I don't know if I'd want to even bring a child into all of this!! The man who does not read good books has no advantage over the man who cannot read them. -- Mark Twain.

Just because you used "jovial" in a sentence, doesn't mean you get a hug The man who does not read good books has no advantage over the man who cannot read them. -- Mark Twain.

As long as one soul feels that way, all is not lost.
I believe we are at this moment in time because we need to be. Yin and yang exist in harmony. But things will get better someday, once we all realise what our true natures are. There is a light ... there is a better way ... we can get there if we try. Words and thoughts expressed as you did will help to guide us all. xxx

Very poignant!
That is why we should all try to do at least one thing for someone else.. Just reach out, a simple hello is alot.. And what about the elderly.. they deserve so much.. They are our history.. Listen, talk to them. They are incredible. Thank you Mr. Whapper! ^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^
