Loved this movie. Sciorra and Snipes were amazing together. Heat coming off the screen.
But I didn't like that Wesley's character had to be cheating on his family.
I wished he was single so I wouldn't have had to hate him so much.

Ya know, I saw this flick when it came out, but can't for the life of me remember anything about it (other than that it was about an interracial relationship).

While we're on the topic of Spike Lee, I think he's an interesting filmmaker, but - for me - his work will always be tainted by what I genuinely believe is his anti-Semitism (highly ironic, from a man who made Do The Right Thing and is highly sensitive about racism).

I loved the movie as typical, entertaining and thought-provoking Spike Lee fare. He's one of my favorite filmmakers. But I often diverge from Spike on the political front.

I think his exploration of African American and Italian subcultures was too flat and stereotypical on both fronts. There are people in both groups who feel the way the characters did (and I suppose highlighting their ideologies was important on the dramatic front), but I don't think their presence greatly contributed to any new, fresh discussion of interracial relationships.

... Wow, I used the word "front" three times. I need a nap and a thesaurus. lol

I felt that the subplot of Gator Purify, played so amazingly by Sam L. Jackson and the character's decent into drug abuse was the better part of the movie. With the way his drug abuse affected his mom ( Ruby Dee ) and the good Rev. Doctor ( Ossie Davis ) really made this movie more than Wesley's part. Halle's part was just as gripping, the two of them ( Sam & Halle ) were almost to scary for their own good. Overall it was one of Spike's better movies, number seven on my all time list of Spike's work.

I forget the ending, but I do remember liking it very much. Spike Lee is one of my favorite directors, and I think his best film is Do the Right Thing.
