I want to upgrade a computer... HELP!

We just got new systems at work. They gave me one of the computers that they replaced. It is a PIII 450MHZ w/ 128MB of RAM

I want to add more RAM memory(SDRAM) How do I go about adding more RAM?

Also I want to install a larger hard drive and I don't have a clue.

Can anyone give me advice?

I have been to many web sites and I am really confused.. HELP.

You have to find out exactly what kind of motherboard you have. Once I have that, I'm sure I'd be able to find all the specs you need. Chances are that it won't be upgradable beyond 1GHz for a processor, though.

nod Agreed. For starters, I would say address the motherboard needs. Then, it would be more appropriate to consider having the following: 160GB or more for HD, and 512 RAM.

slm4m, download this small and very handy program.

http://www.belarc.com/fre...nload.html

It will tell you all your computer components, serial no's, without having to take off the case.To add more RAM you need a spare slot to fit it in.Anyway even if you've got all the Hardware upgrade advice have a look at this:

The Belarc Advisor builds a detailed profile of your installed software and hardware, including Microsoft Hotfixes, and displays the results in your Web browser. All of your PC profile information is kept private on your PC and is not sent to any web server.
~PClinuxOS~ yes I've been here longer than I care to remember, ... I drop in from time to time, ... thumbs up!

There's one big difference. The PC he is getting for free and can easily be upgraded. The Mac would cost him big $$$, and trying to upgrade economically is probably not viable for him. Macs are not the one big solution that some people think they are especially when you're getting a PC for free.
