Carmen Jones's 50th Anniversary-What Do U Think Of The Legendary All Black Musical Movie After Half Century?

-Dorothy & Harry as Carmen & Joe
-Pear Bailey as Frankie
-Young Diahann Carroll as Myrt

-Olga James As Cindy Lou

I also found this intersting pic from one of the movie's launch primers:

I watched the movie last night for the 1st time and even tho the hollywood stereotypes are very much pronounced in that flick(something common considering its from the 1950's period). Its amazing how after half a century, this movie didn't look that dated in terms of production & acting,,,

But booooy, I could never get sick of the movie's pre4mances at all(Esp Pearl's) that woman is a true entertainer.

Diahann Carroll didn't change one bit to me. Damn that ol' broad.

Love the movie.

Yo thoughts?

Anyway, I love it. Carmen's attitude, Dorothy's beauty, Pearl's song!!!, the clothes... It's really fantastic. clapping

Thanks for the pic @ the bottom, I'd never seen it before. disbelief

I've been meaning to get that Dorothy Dandridge book all these years & never have, I really need to get on that. I think it's by Donald Bogle, no? Anyway, what a time that was. I'd be curious to hear the actors talk about what it was like to make it smile
