I haven't been here much lately and it's all because of this loser of a guy I decided to have a child with I've been dealing with all this child support crap and it really sucks! Why don't men want to pay child support?

I would really like to hear from the men on this one because I just want to know what the male point of view is.....But women, by all means feel free to vent

I am on the other end of the stick. My son's mother is a deadbeat!!!

She wont call, visit, write or pay her "COURT ORDERED" CHILD SUPPORT!!!

As for my other children I pay their child support, so I guess I'm not much help.

i'm in the same boat. i have a court order for my sons father to pay as well...its a good month when i get it, but those are few and far between...the good news in my case though is he has already been warned by the court that if he misses a payment again they are going to start garnishing his wages. i have not received a payment yet for October so i think i'll make the call to the court officer tomorrow. he is only supposed to pay $230 a month but now with all the back pay he owes the checks will be more around the $400 range until its paid off...

i know if the shoe was on the other foot i would be certain to pay for my son...i know how much money it takes to raise a child and $230 doesn't even ice the cake. he is getting off easy and my son is lucky if his father takes the innitiative to call and visit him. if the roles were reversed that would be different too. he is the best thing that has ever happened to me even with the stress and heartache that comes with being a single mom...i just wish his father felt the same way.

Absolutely. And it really sucks because it gives good mothers and fathers who ARE helping raise their kids, both emotionally and financialy, a bad name. It's too difficult these days to raise a child alone.

There is nothing for the state to take the money out of And he being the idiot that he is, I know he won't pay it. He could care less if he has a warrant, which I believe he has today because he didn't show up for court.

It really says what type of person you are when you would rather go to jail than pay child support.

it must be different in the states then it is here in Canada. my ex really doesn't have a choice..he has a job...he gets a paycheck...since he hasn't been paying, the court contacts his payroll and they remove the amount owed before he even gets his check. he was a dumbass to let it get this far...now he will have NO control over when it gets paid.

better for us (me and my son) though...now we know we'll get it every damn month.

i hope your situation gets better...i know this will take a weight off my shoulders so i can stop worrying about paying the bills and can concentrate on being a better mom...

Sure, that's the case here too, but he doesn't have a "Job" where he gets paid and has taxes taken out. He mostly gets paid "Under the table". If he gets a check, it's a personal check that he can cash and go on about his business.

Oh man, you just touched off a nerve with me. My fiance's ex is a deadbeat dad. He does JACK SQUAT to take care of his kids! He thinks calling them once every couple of nights is being a good parent. He also thinks that being unemployed excuses him (he quit his job so my fiance wouldn't be able to get any more money). What the dill-hole fails to realise is that he's shooting himself in the foot! His daughter started calling me "daddy" this week, and his son has no concept of him as his father. Thing is, my fiance just had to go through all of the paperwork and bullshit it takes to collect from the fuck. What a bunch of crap! All because this drunk-as, drug addicted slime-ball has no concept of responsibility.

One bright spot: we did find out that, in the state of Texas, he is required to notify the courts if he becomes unemployed. By doing this he could get permission to pay a smaller amount. Since he didn't do this, he is in contempt of court! He will lose his driver's license, hunting license (any surprise that he likes to kill animals?) and fishing license. He also will have to pay 6% interest on his back-pay, and could face six months in jail. It keeps me warm at night to think that he could wind up someones bitch in a cell!

As I am one who gets sporadic child support, Maintenance Enforcement sucks here. Father only pays when he feels like it or not at all.

For those of you out there that refuse to pay, man or woman: Hey you (and you know who you are), don't you realize that you think that by not paying that you are punishing the other parent??? NO, the ones who suffer are the child(ren). It is for the children only. It costs money to raise a child and you chose and did take part in bringing the child(ren) into the world. That money goes towards providing things like clothing, school supplies, groceries, etc.

Remember who you are hurting - it's the child(ren) that have to suffer because of your stupidity and stubborness. Step up to the plate, what kind of parent are you anyways?????
