Post Your Favorite Spooky Song: Halloween Edition "Coffee Homeground" Kate Bush
Down in the cellar You're getting into making poison. You slipped some on the side, Into my glass of wine, And I don't want any coffee--homeground. Offer me a chocolate, No thank you, spoil my diet, know your game! But tell me just how come They smell of bitter almonds? It's a no-no to your coffee homeground. Pictures of Crippin Lipstick-smeared. Torn wallpaper. Have the walls got ears here? Well, you won't get me with your Belladonna--in the coffee, And you won't get me with your aresenic--in the pot of tea, And you won't get me in a hole to rot--with your hemlock On the rocks. Where are the plumbers Who went a-missing here on Monday? There was a tall man With his companion, And I bet you gave them coffee--homeground. Maybe you're lonely, And only want a little company, But keep your recipes For the rats to eat, And may they rest in peace with coffee homeground. Well, you won't get me with your Belladonna--in the coffee, And you won't get me with your aresenic--in the pot of tea, And you won't put me in a six-foot plot--with your hemlock On the rocks. You won't get me with your Belladonna--in the coffee, And you won't get me with your aresenic--in the pot of tea, And you won't get me in a hole to rot--with your hemlock On the rocks. With your hemlock on the rocks. "Noch ein Glas, mein Liebchen?"* With your hemlock on the rocks. "Es schmeckt wunderbahr!"* With your hemlock on the rocks. "Und ???"

"Lullaby" The Cure
On candystripe legs the spiderman comes Softly through the shadow of the evening sun Stealing past the windows of the blissfully dead Looking for the victim shivering in bed Searching out fear in the gathering gloom and Suddenly! A movement in the corner of the room! And there is nothing I can do When I realise with fright That the spiderman is having me for dinner tonight! Quietly he laughs and shaking his head Creeps closer now Closer to the foot of the bed And softer than shadow and quicker than flies His arms are all around me and his tongue in my eyes "Be still be calm be quiet now my precious boy Don't struggle like that or I will only love you more For it's much too late to get away or turn on the light The spiderman is having you for dinner tonight" And I feel like I'm being eaten By a thousand million shivering furry holes And I know that in the morning I will wake up In the shivering cold And the spiderman is always hungry... I don't think I have one... but "Little Red Riding Hood" always creeped me out when I was younger... I realize it's not a "scary" song, but about something other, but...does that count?
Owooooo! Who's that I see walkin' in these woods? Why, it's Little Red Riding Hood. Hey there Little Red Riding Hood, You sure are looking good. You're everything a big bad wolf could want. Listen to me. Little Red Riding Hood I don't think little big girls should Go walking in these spooky old woods alone. Owooooo! What big eyes you have, The kind of eyes that drive wolves mad. So just to see that you don't get chased I think I ought to walk with you for a ways. What full lips you have. They're sure to lure someone bad. So until you get to grandma's place I think you ought to walk with me and be safe. I'm gonna keep my sheep suit on Until I'm sure that you've been shown That I can be trusted walking with you alone. Owooooo! Little Red Riding Hood I'd like to hold you if I could But you might think I'm a big bad wolf so I won't. Owooooo! What a big heart I have-the better to love you with. Little Red Riding Hood Even bad wolves can be good. I'll try to be satisfied just to walk close by your side. Maybe you'll see things my way before we get to grandma's place. Little Red Riding Hood You sure are looking good You're everything that a big bad wolf could want. Owooooo! I mean baaaaa! Baaa?

"Bela Lugosi's Dead" Bauhaus
White on white translucent black capes Back on the rack Bela Lugosi's dead The bats have left the bell tower The victims have been bled Red velvet lines the black box Bela Lugosi's dead Undead undead undead The virginal brides file past his tomb Strewn with time's dead flowers Bereft in deathly bloom Alone in a darkened room The count Bela Logosi's dead Undead undead undead Actually, this song isn't too creepy either...it's sort of a sad tribute to a legendary actor and the character he was famous for. Over the Graveyard
Over the graveyard and through the tombs, To the haunted house we go. The ghosts are a fright, This spooky night So come and join the show. Over the graveyard and through the tombs, Just hear the dreadful cries, The banshees howl, The black cats yowl, Their shrieking fills the skies. Over the graveyard and through the tombs, Where all the goblins meet, Witches and ghouls They are no fools, They all yell, "Trick or Treat." Over the graveyard and through the tombs, The jack-o-lanterns gleam. Bats fill the skies, With glowing eyes, Hooray! It's Halloween! ^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^

Scary Monsters (And Super Creeps) Lyrics
by David Bowie She had an horror of rooms she was tired you can't hide beat When I looked in her eyes they were blue but nobody home She could've been a killer if she didn't walk the way she do, and she do She opened strange doors that we'd never close again She began to wail jealousies scream Waiting at the light know what I mean [CHORUS (twice)] Scary monsters, super creeps Keep me running, running scared She asked me to stay and I stole her room She asked for my love and I gave her a dangerous mind Now she's stupid in the street and she can't socialise Well I love the little girl and I'll love her till the day she dies She wails Jimmy's guitar sound jealousies scream Waiting at the light know what I mean [CHORUS (twice)] [CHORUS (twice)] Run, Run, Run

Oingo Boingo-Dead Man's Party
I'm all dressed up with nowhere to go Walkin' with a dead man over my shoulder Waiting for an invitation to arrive Goin' to a party where no one's still alive CHORUS I was struck by lighting Walkin' down the street I was hit by something last night in my sleep It's a dead man's party Who could ask for more Everybody's comin', leave your body at the door Leave your body and soul at the door . . . (Don't run away it's only me) All dressed up with nowhere to go Walkin' with a dead man Waitin' for an invitation to arrive With a dead man . . . Dead Man . . . Got my best suit and my tie Shiny silver dollar on either eye I hear the chauffeur comin' to the door Says there's room for maybe just one more . . . CHORUS Don't run away it's only me Don't be afraid of what you can't see Don't run away it's only me . . .

Ministry well i live with snakes and lizards and other things that go bump in the night cos to me everyday is halloween i have given up hiding and started to fight i have started to fight well any time, any place, anywhere that i go all the people seem to stop and stare they say 'why are you dressed like it's halloween? you look so absurd, you look so obscene' o, why can't i live a life for me? why should i take the abuse that's served? why can't they see they're just like me it's the same, it's the same in the whole wide world well i let their teeny minds think that they're dealing with someone who is over the brink and i dress this way just to keep them at bay cos halloween is everyday it's everyday o, why can't i live a life for me? why should i take the abuse that's served? why can't they see they're just like me it's the same, it's the same in the whole wide world o, why can't i live a life for me? why should i take the abuse that's served? why can't they see they're just like me i'm not the one that's so absurd why hide it? why fight it? hurt feelings best to stop feeling hurt from denials, reprisals it's the same it's the same in the whole wide world

WHERE THE WILD ROSES GROW - NICK CAVE/KYLIE MINOGUE
They call me The Wild Rose But my name was Elisa Day Why they call me it I do not know For my name was Elisa Day From the first day I saw her I knew she was the one As she stared in my eyes and smiled For her lips were the colour of the roses They grew down the river, all bloody and wild When he knocked on my door and entered the room My trembling subsided in his sure embrace He would be my first man, and with a careful hand He wiped the tears that ran down my face On the second day I brought her a flower She was more beautiful than any woman I'd seen I said, 'Do you know where the wild roses grow So sweet and scarlet and free?' On the second day he came with a single rose Said: 'Will you give me your loss and your sorrow?' I nodded my head, as I lied on the bed He said, 'If I show you the roses will you follow?' On the third day he took me to the river He showed me the roses and we kissed And the last thing I heard was a muttered word As he stood smiling above me with a rock in his fist On the last day I took her where the wild roses grow And she lay on the bank, the wind light as a thief As I kissed her goodbye, I said, 'All beauty must die' And lent down and planted a rose between her teeth

Long Blavk Veil (by Lefty Frizzell)
Ten years ago, on a cold dark night Someone was killed, 'neath the town hall light There were few at the scene, but they all agreed That the slayer who ran, looked a lot like me The judge said son, what is your alibi If you were somewhere else, then you won't have to die I spoke not a word, thou it meant my life For I'd been in the arms of my best friend's wife She walks these hills in a long black veil She visits my grave when the night winds wail Nobody knows, nobody sees Nobody knows but me Oh, the scaffold is high and eternity's near She stood in the crowd and shed not a tear But late at night, when the north wind blows In a long black veil, she cries ov're my bones I woke up sunday morning with no way to hold my head that didn't hurt
and the beer I had for breakfast wasn't bad so I had one more for dessert

rock a by baby on the tree top when the wind blows the cradle will rock...
peter and the wolf ... symphony Goethe. 'Erlking' ...have fun... WHO rides there so late through the night dark and drear? The father it is, with his infant so dear; He holdeth the boy tightly clasp'd in his arm, He holdeth him safely, he keepeth him warm.- My son, wherefore seek'st thou thy face thus to hide?" "Look, father, the Erl-King is close by our side! Dost see not the Erl-King, with crown and with train?" "My son, 'tis the mist rising over the plain."- "Oh, come, thou dear infant! oh come thou with me! Full many a game I will play there with thee; On my strand, lovely flowers their blossoms unfold, My mother shall grace thee with garments of gold."- " My father, my father, and dost thou not hear The words that the Erl-King now breathes in mine ear?" "Be calm, dearest child, 'tis thy fancy deceives; 'Tis the sad wind that sighs through the withering leaves."- " Wilt go, then, dear infant, wilt go with me there? My daughters shall tend thee with sisterly care My daughters by night their glad festival keep, They'll dance thee, and rock thee, and sing thee to sleep." "My father, my father, and dost thou not see, How the Erl-King his daughters has brought here for me?" "My darling, my darling, I see it aright, 'Tis the aged grey willows deceiving thy sight. " I love thee, I'm charm'd by thy beauty, dear boy! and if thou'rt unwilling, then force I'll employ." My father, my father, he seizes me fast, Pull sorly the Erl-King has hurt me last." - The father now gallops, with terror half wild, He grasps in his arms the poor shuddering child; He reaches his courtyard with toil and with dread,-- The child in his arms finds he motionless, dead.- chillin... "Of Lillies and Remains" Bauhaus
In the marbled reception hall I received a three band gold ring, from Mark. A token of esteem. Running through ghost closet locker rooms, to hide from Peter, who has fallen to the old cold stone floor, wheezing and emitting a seemingly endless flow of ectoplasmic white goo from ears and mouth. A wind rushes through the hall, whistles as it breezes through the narrow slits in the green locker doors. I hide in one of these, number thirteen. Barely concealed but hopeful Blackout Blackout! I will climb this high wall In rememberance of Clancy To regain or re-earn my life As I died just a flicker of an eyelid ago The wall has many holes And many foot pieces to fasten to The wall is dangerous, and this is my penance My penance and my task I did it once and they wondered Yet I need to go, once more around Up breathtakingly Across rigidly Down easily - and foolishly I endeavoured again To climb the wall in vain And capture back my chain Of lillies and remains Of lillies and remains Of lillies and remains

"Party of the First Part" - Bauhaus
(from "the devil and daniel mouse") Who are you? My card, pretty lady. Devil May-Care Music Production, Beelzebub Scratch, President. I like your style, too bad you're not a singer. Oh, but I am, I am a singer! Hmm, no fooling. No, no listen... Fantastic, different. I want to be a star, of please! You've talked me into it. Contract! Just our standard contract, nothing fancy. Fame, fortune, fans, gold records, concerts, world tours, your name in lights. Take your time, read it all. Oh, I give up. Can I trust you? Ok, I'll sign. Write! Where's the ink? We always use- blood, it's more permanent. Oh, I don't know, can't we wait for Dad? Oh, sure, I'll be back next year. Come on, Wease. Next year?! Oh wait, wait, stop. I'll sign. What about a band... I know a drummer. She can't be bothered kid, she's got an interview. The interview circus is so absurd, and so silly. How do you feel about your sudden success? Well, I feel like being a big star is really great, you know. It's like, fabulous. Lonely, too, sometimes. Oh, that's nice. This is the biggest thing ever to hit rock! You're at the top now, sweetie. Yeah, but where do I go from here? Don't worry, I want you, we have a bargain. No, I didn't mean that, wait! I've been waiting, now it's my turn. No. According to our contract, at precisely midnight, at the moment of her greatest triumph, the party of the first part, that's you, agrees to render up her soul now and forever more to the party of the second part, that's me. Shall we go?

"Halloween" Siouxsie and the Banshees
The night is still and the frost it bites my face I wear my silence like a mask and murmur like a ghost "Trick or Treat" "Trick or Treat" The bitter and the sweet The carefree days are distant now I wear my memories like a shroud I try to speak but words collapse Echoing "Trick or Treat" "Trick or Treat" The bitter and the sweet I wander though your sadness gazing at you with scorpion eyes Halloween.....Halloween A sweet reminder in the ice-blue nursery of a childish murder of hidden lustre and she cries "Trick or Treat" "Trick or Treat" The bitter and the sweet I wander through your sadness gazing at you with scorpion eyes Halloween.....Halloween

Violent Femmes - Country Death Song I had me a wife, I had me some daughters. I tried so hard, I never knew still waters. Nothing to eat and nothing to drink. Nothing for a man to do but sit around and think. Nothing for a man to do but sit around and think. Well, I'm a thinkin' and thinkin', till there's nothin' I ain't thunk. Breathing in the stink, till finally I stunk. It was at that time, I swear I lost my mind. I started making plans to kill my own kind. I started making plans to kill my own kind. Come little daughter," I said to the youngest one, Put your coat on, we'll have some fun. We'll go out to mountains, the one to explore. Her face then lit up, I was standing by the door. Her face then lit up, I was standing by the door. Come little daughter, I will carry the lanterns. We'll go out tonight, we'll go to the caverns. We'll go out tonight, we'll go to the caves. Kiss your mother goodnight and remember that God saves. Kiss your mother goodnight and remember that God saves. A led her to a hole, a deep black well. I said "make a wish, make sure and not tell and close you're eyes dear, and count to seven. You know your papa loves you, good children go to heaven. You know your papa loves you, good children go to heaven. I gave her a push, I gave her a shove. I pushed with all my might, I pushed with all my love. I through my child into a bottomless pit. She was screaming as she fell, but I never heard her hit. She was screaming as she fell, but I never heard her hit. Gather round boys to this tale that I tell. You wanna know how to take a short trip to hell? It's guarenteed to get your own place in hell. Just take your lovely daughter and push her in the well. Take your lovely daughter and throw her in the well. Don't speak to me of lovers, with a broken heart. You wanna know what can really tear you apart? I'm going out to the barn, will I never stop in pain? I'm going out to the barn, to hang myself in shame. In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular. |

Because it's a creepy song to begin with, but also because it reminds me of one of my favorite films - Halloween
Don't Fear the Reaper by Blue Oyster Cult All our times have come Here but now they're gone Seasons don't fear the reaper Nor do the wind, the sun or the rain We can be like they are Come on baby... Don't fear the Reaper Baby take my hand... Don't fear the Reaper We'll be able to fly... Don't fear the Reaper Baby I'm your man... Valentine is done Here but now they're gone Romeo and Juliet Are together in eternity... Romeo and Juliet 40,000 men and women everyday... Like Romeo and Juliet 40,000 men and women everyday... Redefine happiness Another 40,000 coming everyday...We can be like they are Come on baby... Don't fear the Reaper Baby take my hand... Don't fear the Reaper We'll be able to fly... Don't fear the Reaper Baby I'm your man... Love of two is one Here but now they're gone Came the last night of sadness And it was clear she couldn't go on Then the door was open and the wind appeared The candles blew then disappeared The curtains flew then he appeared Saying don't be afraid Come on baby... And we had no fear And we ran to him... Then they started to fly They looked backward and said goodbye We had become like they are We had taken his hand We had become like they are Come on baby...don't fear the reaper

Black No.1 (Little Miss Scare All) by Type O Negative
She's in love with herself. She likes the dark. On her milk white neck. The Devil's mark. It's all Hallows Eve. The moon is full. Will she trick or treat. I bet she will. She's got a date at midnight. With Nosferatu. Oh baby, Lilly Munster. Ain't got nothing on you. Well when I called her evil. She just laughed. And cast that spell on me. Boo Bitch Craft. Yeah you wanna go out 'cause it's raining and blowing. You can't go out 'cause your roots are showing. Dye em black. Black no. 1 Little wolf skin boots. And clove cigarettes. An erotic funeral. For witch she's dressed. Her perfume smells like. Burning leaves. Everyday is Halloween. Loving you was like loving the dead. Do not hurry yourself in your spirit to become offended, for the taking of offense is what rests in the bosom of the stupid ones. (Ecclesiastes 7:9)
