THE LATEST UPDATE TO THE DILEMMA

Remember the gerbil that was not well..... He finally passed on.

When I arrived home today with the kids after picking them up from day care. My 10 year old son went to check on his sick gerbil "Coke". My son found him dead. He was sad, crying and hitting and throwing things around the kitchen.

I put a plastic baggy on my hand and picked up the corpse (stiff, rigor had set in, and it's eyes were still open eek). My son wanted to bury him and so he did. I gave him a large spoon to dig a spot in the dirt. He put it in the plot and buried him. He then went in the house and made a paper tombstone to put. bawl
pray pray

This sucks.

I kept trying to convince him to let me take the gerbil to the vet to put him out of his misery. My son (Francis) kept saying no. Even though I explained it was not fair to let it suffer, but.... sigh

It's hard for young kids to be able to understand things the way we do, even when we try to explain it to them. sad

Sorry to hear this, luv4u.

hug

Your son sounds like he has a great heart though.

Hopefully the sadness will pass as soon as possible and he can hang on to the memories as he gets older.
