GOODBYE FIGARO I had to put down one of my cats today. Figaro was 14 years old, the most beautiful birman ever.
I took him over from my best friend about 6 years ago, cos he didn't agree with having two dobermanns in the house and so started peeing in Jen's bed to show his disapproval He did fine with me though, apart from throwing up often because he was long haired. Naturally this took its toll on his stomach, and so he began throwing up more often and several times on each occasion because his stomach was so upset. Then, a few months ago he stopped eating the dry kibble food and it took some time for me to realise this since I have two other cats and they all eat out of the same bowl. When I DID realise that he'd lost weight I started buying fish for him, different kinds. That worked for a while and he gained weight but he would still throw up a lot. One day it was tainted pink, and I realised that he wasn't feeling good at all. I tried everything I could think of, special vet food, vitamins etc. Recently he began to not be able to hold down food very much, and he was so tired. This morning he had a seizure of some kind, a big one and then I decided that it was time to let him go. I borrowed money from my ex and walked him up to the local vet hospital, and around 11am CET Figaro fell asleep forever. He didn't fight it at all, I had a feeling he was tired. I'm trying not to wind myself up, but I keep thinking things like "who's gonna lie next to my pillow and snore in my ear now?" I know it was best for him, I cried so much but now it's fairly ok. Aww, man. I had a cat who was like a best friend to me I had to put to sleep in 2000. I had him since I was in first grade. The memories keep them alive-hang in there!

That's rough. I'm really sorry to hear about your loss. I had a cat named Figaro too. My ex-wife has him now. I really miss him Do not hurry yourself in your spirit to become offended, for the taking of offense is what rests in the bosom of the stupid ones. (Ecclesiastes 7:9)

Thank you dear, I DID get some flashbacks. What was worse was that Uz was asking me where he was all the time when we left the hospital, I brought her with me to keep me sane when it was over. She kept sniffing me and stopping, saying "You left Figaro back there" I'm ok now but when I took a nap this afternoon I dreamt I heard the noise of Figaro throwing up Thank you

Want help getting him back? We can go in commando style No. I have visitation, plus I wouldn't want to do that to him. He's a total mama's boy! I'm not so sure he'd get along with my fiance's kitty either. She's rather territorial! (but hey! Thanks for the offer! I know who I'm calling if I ever need to liberate an abused pet!!). Do not hurry yourself in your spirit to become offended, for the taking of offense is what rests in the bosom of the stupid ones. (Ecclesiastes 7:9)

Once me and a group of friends liberated two dogs that were being sexually abused by their owner. We beat him up royally and dropped him off at the police station. They knew who he was and what he had done, so they readily accepted the excuse "we came across this dude and he'd fallen down." I hate mofo's like that.

I'm so sorry to hear that Teacher. I know how hard it is to come to terms with losing a friend/pet/loved one.
He knew it was time, and was counting on you to do the right thing. You didn't let him down.
