Org old schoolers and new schoolers

It struck me the other day how silly the old schoolers can be. lol

I've been here for over 3 years now, but now this isn't long enough to be considered old school org (were you to want to), as upon discussion of the subject, 5 years has apparently been made the new old school marker. thumbs up!

There's something quite cute about how some old schoolers lament the so-called decline of the site, the influx of newbies, changes in chat, and yearn for 'the good ol' days' when things were, by default, better. Of course, not all old schoolers are like this, but some need to catch themselves before they sink too far into their absurd cliques and inflated idea of self-importance. smile Some of the things people say in chat are priceless, talking about 'seniority', 'hierachy' and 'rank'. disbelief These people are deadly serious when they talk about their place on the org, as if having come here in 1997 is something to be respected. lol

We're talking about a website here, and people come and go. Musicology's success has brought in lots of new fans. Many new orgers spend a frightening amount of time here, while many old schoolers have come and gone over the years.
Surely what's most important is the people who are here now, old school and new school, and their contribution to the site.

I don't mind some of the cliqueness and laughable things that are said. I appreciate the entertainment. Just observations is all.

i don't think it matters how long you've been here as long as you can get to a point where you're comfortable and have stuff you enjoy contributing to the conversations around here. i don't know if i'm an old skooler or a medium skooler or what kind of skooler i am - i don't think one ever gets out of skool, so it really doesn't matter in the long run.

Very good observation nod as a poster child for the so called "decline" of the org (even though me being here about 4 years 3 1/2 of it lurking) Im considered as fresh as a daisy as well since I wasn't a "consistant" poster. Anyway if it's not someone reminding people about an orger or orgers who you never heard of, but was so much greater than you and everyone currently here...it's like you said "The good old days when cliques ruled the earth" and someone saying today's org does not compare....I do find it entertaining also that on a "Internet chat site" people feel the need to add some sort of classification or hierachy....The sad thing is some will read this sentence and completely ignore and block out what I said about this being an "Internet chat site" cause for them this is reality.

I have been here a while and the only diff between now and then is less cliques and more flaming back then. Same topics as then....Same bullshit as then....nothing changed....

But for those out there who are looking for some acceptance and in 3 years or so want to tell other orgers how much it sucks now and how "good" it was right now....Join the new click! Org immortality and acceptance is only a new click away!

Yes, naturally the org was at its peak when I first started coming here and with every new sign-up since then cometh the decline.

I agree with you Anx, but should note that I don't wish to have your babies.

If there is such a thing a ORG heirarchy, than my measely seven months does'nt make a dent in the ORG ship, but what I read from the " old timers " is their frustration with newbie questions and inquiries. It's like asking a question for the first time makes you seem dumb or not qualified to be here. I don't take any offense at an attack if one comes my way, what real harm is there in a person who typing away thousands of miles from me, whom I may never meet, and ain't always the expert geek they pose themselves to be. Hey folks, it's just a website, get over yourselves, why are'nt you having sex??? Why am I not having sex??? What is sex??? What does it feel like??? eek razz eek

I've been here on and off since 1997...(on since 2002 lol ) and to me it really doesn't matter how long a person has been here, but rather how they contribute to the site.
shrug

I didn't know there was really any "hierarchy" to speak of...but, I sort of don't get involved in those things I guess...at least I try not to.

hmmm I never thought about it before, but I'm kinda new here. I originally stumbled across the site looking for Prince info on the web.

For a while I used the org as a source of information, then occasionally I found an interesting thread to contribute to. Then, as I have become more involved on the threads, I got to recognise peoples 'names' and characters.

I am comfortable with my involvement here, new or not, sure there are people who have been here a lot longer, or maybe into Prince longer.... but so what... it's a chat site... a discussion forum...

Old Skool, Cliques, Sod 'em... It's fun! There are some interesting people and a hell of a lot of knowledge here.

Spelling doh!
