Sign of Change The other day whilst walking in my hometown, i saw a 'bumper sticker' that read, simply,
'Commit Random Acts Of Kindness' So i took it upon myself to do so (not that i am an unkind person ordinarily! ha ha). However, i decided to make more of a conscious effort. It's been good so far. [Edited 10/23/04 4:37am] You'll never know a girl called Nikki and you'll never find Erotic City

I do that all the time. People look at you weird when you do something nice.

Do u think that we are now living in a time of 'everyone for themselves'? A time in which the ofference of help is frowned upon or greeted with sceptecisim that you have a hidden agenda? You'll never know a girl called Nikki and you'll never find Erotic City

Sadly I think that's absolutely the case. We're so conditioned to put up with so much crap on a day to day basis as par for the course that when someone tries to be nice it feels so rare. I wish I could open a door for somebody without it being such a huge surprise.

lollyp0p said: it really is sad It really is-shouldn't make me feel so old remembering growing up and seeing things like people helping each other out some more. The ones that are looking for a quick easy fix and con overshadow the ones that are actually trying to make the world a little better. Everybody on some level seems to have made their minds up on someone before they open their mouths-not everyone does this thankfully, but seems to be all too common. I'm not asking for holding hands and singing "I'd Like to Buy the World a Coke" (or Teach The World to Sing, even though Byron might go for one of those), but I think doing little things is just good karma. That I think is the big thing-it's just something little you do without being selfish. Everybody wants something for themselves (and I know of course I've done this more than I should) but it's still all just simple stuff at the core I think most people could do a little more of one thing and less of another and it wouldn't change a lot of things, but it'd be a nice touch. I'd like to think John Lennon wasn't so far off in his ideas.
