Haystack's Gold Experience

There came a time about 6 months ago where I realised that I was no longer a fan of Prince.Org as it was. I still loved a lot of the people here (as much as you can love an online persona who you've never personally met), but the place had lost a lot of it's buzz. My threads seemed not to matter any more and I felt that my presence wasn't needed. That's not to say that I thought that I deserved to be heard, or anything, but it seemed that my time at the Org was through. I'd hit my prince CD period, if you will.

Also, as Haystack, I'd worn myself out. I'd had incredibly long threads (Has my record been beaten yet?), I created an online Mardi Gras, I invented what have now become Org standards (mis-quoting being the one I'm most proud of) and I liked to feel that I had a presence here.

But there was one thing bothering me. I was letting this place take too much importance. I'd be in bed at night, thinking about my next thread. I'd get annoyed when I'd argued with somebody about something which, ultimately, didn't matter and wasn't important. And above all, this place was marring my enjoyment of Prince's music.

I'd allow others' opinions to affect how I listened to some of his work. If I'd argued about some element of his work with somebody, I'd think about what had been said every time I listened to that particular thing and it'd put me off listening to it. In other words - the Org had severely impaired my enjoyment of Prince and my online life in general.

So I realised that I had to get away from it. Or at least, not see it in the same way as I used to. So Haystack was killed off. As was GhostlyNun and TheOrger.

The only name I kept was the little known name 'Enigmoid'.

My intention was to leave the Org and to rejoin it at a later time with a new outlook on it. So Haystack has gone and is never coming back. However, Brian (that's me) is happy to be here with a new outlook and a different name.

Enigmoid won't ever let the Org affect his life outside the time he's on this site and I know that a lot of people here will understand what I mean by that.

I want to discuss Prince, have fun in the GD forum and generally socialise yet again with the folks here. But I can't be doing with the drama and I won't be getting involved (unless I want to, just for the sheer fun of it).

It sounds tacky, but I feel like Prince changing his name to prince

I'm still here, but I'm here on different personal rules. And I'll still be happy to argue the toss with anybody, should the need arise. But it won't bother me in the slightest.

And a note to all those who have left and lurk every now and then. Why not return with a different name and on different rules. It makes all the difference and your friends here will be so glad to see you back.

Anyhoo, to all those who know me - Hi.

And to those who don't - Hi.

Yeah, she would know. nod

I'd say Adam's last album, "Wonderful", but that doesn't really count either. confused
