ie. put 10% of every check into a savings account, and then deposit the rest of the money in your checking,

I put $50 of each support check i get into a fund for christmas so on Christmas I have a nice amout to spend on the little on.

I saved up enough for a down payment on a house by putting at least 10% in a seperate savings account each week, if i had extra money, I would deposit that too.

If you do it before you start paying yopur bills, you wont even notice its gone
