Westsideeeee Chino Hills California

That places me 5 minutes from Orange County and 20 minutes from the middle of LA

I love that I live in a beautiful bedroom community 5 minutes from the children's father.... 50 minutes from the snow (Byron's region)

I have hung out with some very notable people.... from every walk....reality...truth and lack there of...

California is a very diverse... multi culture hub where its a small world after all is right in your neighborhood and I am permitted to be comfortable and myself in a Jewish...Middle Eastern... Latin .... Italian... Vietminese.... Chinese ... South Korean ... Black .... Japanese ... American Indian... Hindu ...Russian (I think you get the point)

That said and with feet firmly planted on the ground.... I am the first to admit it is the capitol of BS and reality is vastly distorted often... It is what you make it!

It is my home of 38 wonderful years and I thank God for it....

I live in Cleveland, Ohio, and I hate it here. The weather sucks, it is practically impossible to find a decent paying job, our professional sports teams suck and can't do anything right, to name just a few things. Cleveland was recently named "The Biggest, Poorest City", which makes it damn embarrassing to admit that I live in this freaking hell hole. The only reason why I stay here is because of close family and friends living nearby, but if I didn't have that, and a good job came up out of state, I would be out of here in a heartbeat. Some of my family members LOVE Cleveland, I don't see what the attraction is, since this place is nothing to jump up and down and do cartwheels over. rolleyes rolleyes rolleyes rolleyes

Well, you knew it wasn't a surprise when your city got the title of pooriest city. You know its a trip when a mayor breaks a city down to the point that you have laid off policemen, firemen, and teachers. It makes no sense for them to make an the RTA Corridor Project when all the businesses are closed on Euclid Ave. (Halle's,May Co/Kaufmen,Higbees/Dillards). Beleive me, you have my sympathy hug.

San Bernardino, California...

The city itself (San Bernardino) isn't much at all...it can be rather depressing, actually..lol. neutral But Southern California is almost like one HUGE city, so what I like about living here:

~ The mountains...

~ The small towns tucked away in the mountains...

~ The Pacific ocean...

~ The scenery along the coast...

~ The towns and cities along the coast...

~ The sunsets...

~ The wide variety of landscapes...

~ The weather...

~ The diversity of people and cultures...

~ Stumbling across movie stars at Walgreens at midnight...

~ In-N-Out burger...

What I dislike about living here:

~ The traffic...

~ No rainstorms of any kind...

~ Too much brown, not enough green...

~ Wildfires...

~ Earthquakes...

~ Pepsi machines... cool

Ahhh, I love the scenic beauty of your area. However, I don't particularly care about the traffic conditions mad, earthquakes, and wildfires. Otherwise, I would say that you are feeling the good life.

I live in Amsterdam, in a constant state of oblivion.

Likes;
The way the leafs are coloring on the trees.
The city mellowing out, people on their way to cafes or home.
Most Amsterdammers speaking English fluently.
Amsterdam being so small you can get everywhere on bike.
All my friends being so close.

Dislikes;
People just visiting here for weed and prostitutes. Even though they give us lots of income.
People hurrying everywhere all of the time.
The fact that the entire city seems a work in progress; loads of major streets are open due to roadworks.

I dont care for weed and I aint about prostitututes ... I could use a warm cuddle....

15 minutes outside of Nashville, Tennessee.

Like
- We have all 4 seasons. We get snow and cold weather, really hot in the summer, beautiful cool falls and gorgeous springs.
- Very mixed group of people.
- Contrary to popular belief, there are a lot of different scenes in Nashville. Goth clubs, blues bars, country bars, dance clubs, etc.
- The musical diversity
- The people
- The location. I can get to Atlanta in 6 hours, Louisville in 4, Cleveland in 8, etc.

When I go up north, I can tell where I'm at by the people in gas stations. It sounds stupid.. but generally down here when you walk up to the counter, you enter into a conversation with a complete stranger. When I go up north, that rarely EVER happens.

Dislike
- during the summer, we have 100 percent and over humidty.
- for the most part.. when I tell someone I'm from Nashville or they hear my southern accent, they assume I'm retarded and my Mom is also my Aunt, Grandmom and 3rd cousin.

And that's it. I've been to several different big cities on trips and although I loved some of them, I more than likely will never live anywhere else. Despite my southern accent, Nashville is just plain awesome. Yeeehaw! wink

I am recovering from my stay in Miami, FL. I ran back to the beaches of Southern California three years ago! CherrieMoon I feel your pain!

What I missed/enjoy about being back home...

All of the food.
Being able to get a doctor appt. with a real doctor within the same year!
Being able to vote.
Going out in the middle of the night to get munchies and the stores are still open!
The mountains, desert, beach and city within an hour of my house.
Being able to drive four blocks without having to pay a toll.
Finding clothes that fit and that do not have my ass hanging out.
Not having to encounter folks with blinding gold teeth all of the time.
No lizards & kamikaze mosquitoes attacking me in my house! They are everywhere!
No hurricane warnings and power outages every five minutes during the summer.
Rain that actually drains away.
Seeing the leaves change.
The smell of real pine trees during the winter!
Gas stoves!

What I dislike about home..

Ignorant Men with no manners.

I could list stuff all night!
Wanted: Virtual Sugar Daddy to help me buy stuff on Farmville and move up the ranks. Use of Viagra not authorized. Get your two minutes and go!

Snowbirds on the left

The others on the right

I totally agree with that, and I would toss in the Love column how doesn't get too hot in the summer or too cold in the winter.
It gets teased for being in its own world compared to other cities...unique and quirkiness

I definitely second the lack of decent men. I don't know if they are scaredy cats or what, but if I was in the south or mid-west, I dont think we would be having this problem. Not saying that there aren't decent ones, but there aren't enough men for women in general out here on top of the level of decency.

That would be included in a stay over appartment. I just can't cook well. I just do chicken ans rice!

I am have the Single Men Cooking Disorder.

Included also; meet and greets (and dancaterias) with Danwtreader and Fhunkin. If planned well enuf maybe a performance by Danwtreader and his fellow Naked Boys Singing. Tours of the city as seen through the eyes of Herman; meaning lots of shopping, walking, sight seeing, canal boat rides, keeping you from walking underneath speeding bikes, nice coffeehouses (NOT shops).

And all tempered. We do not want you tired after dinner so you cannot enjoy SOME of the dancing planned....

Sunset Junction-street fair held every year in August. carnival rides, food booths, & it showcases a lot of local musical talent & some well known artists like Sonic Youth, X, Chaka Khan, & the Donnas. It's free but they usually ask for a "donation" to get in.

Metro Red Line-Los Angeles doesn't have many light rail/subway lines . For the city of it's size it only has 4(blue,red,green, & gold) but it's always expanding so someday will get there.

The Sunset/Vermont stop will drop you off near Silverlake.

Alegria Restraunt-My favorite Mexican restraunt in Silverlake. They make great chicken moles & our next door neighbors happen to be the owners!

Amoeba records-Actually in Hollywood but close to Silverlake. This is where I feed my music addiction.

Psycho, you said it: CLEVELAND BITES!!!! hmmm Where should I start?

* No economic vision: Cleveland is one of few major cities wherein suburban real estate is more expensive than the city's. But still residents choose the burbs for better schools and services, less crime, better housing stock, better shopping; businesses choose the burbs for better tax incentives, which the city should be able to blow out of the water! Businesses and are leaving the city in droves, causing unchecked suburban sprawl and a dying metropolitan core.

* Our medical facilities are world-renowned, but the two premier ones are given free reign to buy up everything in our midtown area, displacing other business and residents.
* No culture: Museums are fair, but underpublicized. We have a TINY theatre district. Restaurants can't survive. We have a weak local music scene. Cool, old ethnic or Bohemian neighborhoods are being gentrified by yuppies who make them sterile caricatures of what they used to be, and the people who gave these areas personality are being displaced.

* Poor infrastructure: The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has to have the big events in New York, because we can't support them.
* Ohio is losing jobs by the boatload.

Need I say more?

...Oh, and I forgot another reason: Clevelanders suffer from major inferiority complex: They either readily admit the city sucks, or they break their necks trying to find tiny redeemable things about it or acting unjustifiably snobbish as if to illustrate that despite this town sucking, they're still "posh." rolleyes

I first want to extend a hug to you considering what you are going from being a native of the mistake on the lake. I'm glad you brought up the points that I have hightlighted above my statement b/c I have noticed alot of this when I visited Cleveland.

You also forgot to mention about the amount of upscale shopping areas that are mostly situated in the burbs. Great examples of suburban developments are: Legacy Village, Beachwood Mall, La Place, and newly built Crocker Square.

There is no question that the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame is a joke. It is a damn shame when they dog the city by not holding the televised event in the city.

Some of the uptight square s need to get off there high horse and allow the casinos to come in. The casinos will help the declining city greatly. What's so funny is that the people who are against the casinos are the same people that you will catch playing bingo and the lottery.

What tragedy to see a once great city fall so fast. However, this city was steel based and fell when the demand of US made steel declined (thanks to NAFTA). It will be interesting to see if the new Euclid Corridor Project will benefit the common man.
