Your 15 minutes of fame

Andy Warhol once said "The day will come when everyone will be famous for 15 minutes."

So what was yours? What did you do, and how widely was it noticed?

...Or are you still waiting?

μηδὲν ὅλως σὺ λυποῦ
πρὸς ὀλίγον ἐστὶ τὸ ζῆν
τὸ τέλος ὁ χρόνος ἀπαιτεῖ.”

When I was student editor of my college's semesterly multicultural magazine, I inherited quite a controversy from my successors. They'd run a story critiquing Black/Jewish relations, and it was WAY inflammatory (and biased AND inaccurate). We had half the campus and many local communities appealing for our publishing rights to be pulled, the other half sending huge donations, advertisers boycotting, U.S. media outlets across the country requesting interviews and international outlets from as far as Asia wanting to transcribe the article in various languages. It was exhilerating and kind of scary!

We were able to run a special follow-up issue that carried views from all sides, and I think, in retrospect, that was a pretty professional way to handle it.

...No movie or nude modeling offers, though. mad

i was on tv a lot and in the press and stuff for short periods in the 1980s, and was in a couple of adverts in the UK too.

now, i'm a shivering wreck who lives in a rented toilet just east of Dagenham, so my life's path has been blessed. smile

My pic was on this kid's show's "KidzBiz" wheel here in Oz...it was a show called 'The Cartoon Company' in da 80s and my pic was there twice.

Then when i was 11, there was footage of me on some program on da ABC here, of me playing cricket and i was running..it was then dat i realised how stupid i look when i run lol

I had my own article published in a local paper in 1996.

Okay, i had an article in da local paper about me in 1998 cause of my poetry in this anthology.

I was a newsreader on a youth station here called Hitz FM in 1999...

My scream features in two advertisements currently on tv here in Oz.

I should stop nowz...this is lookin like my resume lol boxed

at around 11, i was featured on the poster for our city library's 100th anniversary. can you say " geek " ? lol

also, my dog and i were in an infomercial for David Dikeman's Command Performance dog training program. problem was that Murphy and i had only gotten to about chapter 2 in the program, and she was having a problem heeling during the demonstration. needless to say, the infomercial didn't run very long! lol

I was on Primetime for an article on a lawsuit we were working on. My Boss got all the glory (Y'know scientist expert talking about stuff) and I was the geeky guy in the bacground with all the chemicals and funny equipment lol

Apart from that I have published my work around 20 times and I have a book chapter, but all stuff nobody will have ever read.

One day, one day, I WILL be that guy who gets interviewed and I will have my own geeks in the background. Right before I get the nobel price for Medcine that is mr.green
For those of you who missed my shiny helmet....

I did a commercial thingy for Kid's World when I was 8. They had to do at least 10 takes before I got it right. I remember it was the first time I stole a pair of my mom's panty hose. lol

I was Drum Major in my university band. We got to travel to Japan and all over the U.S., so at any given game, we would perform in front of 40k-100k people. I think back on shaking my thang in front of a crowd like that and wonder how I did it. eek

Oh well... booty!

I like being backstage.

The most exciting gig was working on an award show at the Dutch Royal Palace on Dam Square in Amsterdam.

And getting drunk afterwards at the coctail party and laughing too loud at the dinner afterwards. The Queen raised her eyebrow at me.

i was on Blue Peter three times (for all the people outside the uk, no! the Blue doesnt signify what you think)
a kids programme on ITV called Nightmare
another kids programme (quiz/silly grungy activities in a big obstacle thing!) on ITV called Fun House
was a child reporter on a kids news programme on the bbc called News Round
i wrote a West End stage musical with A.L.Webber and Tim Rice by the age of 5
also translated Chairman Mao's little Red Book into 4 languages by my 6th birthday.

(okay, the last two on there are lies. I was atleast 9 when i collaborated with Rice & Webber, and i only translated Mao's Book into 3 languages neutral )
