Can you

judge a person by their friends?

How about their enemies?

Does this concept factor in here at the org or is it incomparable because we only show the best parts of our personalities to our fellow orgers?

Discuss. biggrin
In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular.

hmmm sometime you can get an idea about somebody by his or her friends but i don't think you can actually judge a person just by the friends that person has.

No... I have so many different people in my life... and that doesn't make me different. Wait... wait a second. hmm

biggrin Actually, I believe it can determine some aspects to ones character in the adolensent years... for many are for more vunerable/desperate to fit in and our friends we had did reflect our behavior as a whole to some degree. (speaking from my own experience) I also believe... while we mature (and I hope many do) we tend to fit our own mold, live our own life and have more comfort in having diverse friends. Life changes so much as we mature or at least our awareness to reality brings all to light in a clearer sense. Everyday brings something new and this sense of awareness leaves us to be more individual in how we live life, even while having many friends with different characteristics, lifestyles and culture. This is how my life is at the moment and I love the ingredients it brings into my life and who I am today. rose

As adults, I feel it is far less likely to assume individual character by who are friends are today. What do you think Kim?

I've heard that saying a lot. However I don't entirely agree that it's true. I wouldn't want to be judge by someone else's actions. There are so many reasons why we choose the people we choose and why the choose us. Common interest that may not be found with everyone else. So judge me not by my friends, but by the friend I am to you. Whoa! eek That made me sound like a philospher. giggle

I agree Julie that our choice of companions when we are younger, in our teen years, has a MUCH stronger foot holding on who we are, then later on in our lives. nod

And I too find pleasure of knowing a vast array of people, but I think as with ALL sweeping generalizations there in lies a kernel of truth.

Can you be JUDGED by your friends, of course not, but it does lend an outsider an insight on another's life and how they live it.

Who we choose to associate with does show, even in a small way, part of who we are. I don't doubt that one bit.

As for enemies... I don't have any in my day to day life, so I really don't know.

On the org? I don't think it's possible to "judge" or get a clear view of who anyone is on here based on limited interaction and a few posts. smile

I just thought this might be a good/interesting thing to talk about.biggrin

This place is far too dim. Yet, there can be some strong assumpyions here just the same and through time, the truth seeps out to a certain degree if one chooses to see. Even then... it would be totally unfair to judge based on thread responses alone. Behind every word, behind every mention... there are a million reasons that follow... and only one person who truly knows.

This topic can get heavy... you know, I know you know. rose
