Har Mar Superstar is this crazy local artist/band. They've got a small but loyal fanbase here and have found some crossover success in England (I think).

Anywho, they singer is SCARY looking but they are funkay! Their sound is a mishmash of 70s/Princey/Stevie/Jamiroquai/etc. I'm in love with the new CD.

But seriously, I hear it's a great show. He used to be quite tongue in cheek, being he's a quite average looking, chubby sex symbol song guy. He built quite a local following (taking the name Har Mar from a failing local suburban strip mall), then built a bit of a following in the UK (we kept seeing promos for him everywhere when we were there in 2003), then did a DJ gig for a while in Ibiza, then did a cameo in Starsky and Hutch movie (he was the disco dancer!), and finally located himself in LA where he decided to become quite a bit more serious abut the music thing, going beyond the R & B schtick-ish tendencies and taking the music a bit more seriously. I've got a copy of the new album a friend burned for nearly everyone he knows, he loved it so much and I plan on giving it a good listen soon! Perhaps tonight, even!
