AN ILLUSION!!

I am not sure, if all u guys feel the same way as I do, that really the internet is just one huge hype and a total illusion!!

In my opinion, its impossible 2 find real true freinds online, even in this Prince community!! neutral neutral neutral. I have spent the past 7 years communicating with lots of Prince fans by this means of communication, but it has never got beyond that - just online freinds!! In my opinion, we are all just ships that pass in the night, and really in this game u win some and lose some!! I have found so many Prince people online, only for the freindships not 2 last due 2 one reason or another!!

Also, I have had my illusions and fantasies of Prince freinds dashed, by realizing that they are not the people I imagined them 2 b, either in looks, or personalities, which is one reason why I never want 2 go 2 any Prince meetups or parties!!

Anyway, this is just my thoughts!!

When I meet people online in the Prince community and everything becomes Spiritual and people give the impression that they are really spiritual and different from the rest of the world, i know that if I meet these people I will find that they are just like everyone else in that they smoke like chimneys, drink themselves blind and even on drugs, u cant see their skin for all the tattoos, and they dont even look remotely attractive like I imagine them 2 b, then thats when my illusions of people get shattered!!

A case in point was when I met online a guy, who was so ultra spiritual, very intimate and everything, then he sent me his pic and he looked like Meat Loaf before he lost all his weight!! It was so gross, i was SO disappointed!!!

There is maybe a very small percentage of people online that really live up 2 what I envision them 2 b!!

Also its easy 2 hide behind a computer screen and appear genuine, loving and really interested in others, but I expect in real life most of them are totally different and really couldnt give 2 shits about u!! sad sad sad

AMEN

I can say I have made at least 3 TRUE friends here.
In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular.

that sounds a little shallow.

ok, ok... VERY shallow.

if you're looking for friends, online or otherwise, looks should have absolutely nothing to do with it.

Heavenly

It doesn't sound to me like you're looking for friends, but more like you're looking for a dream lover.

I have several friends here, and they know very well that I'd do anything and everything for them if they just ask. I'm there whenever they need to talk, cry or anything that comes to mind. I don't care how they look, I don't care if they smoke, drink or do drugs.

It seems to me that you're actually blaming the internet, or the people behind the screen to be something they're not, when actually it looks like it's you who are building up fantasies about them just to realize your fantasies are not true.

isn't this like the third thread you have started on this topic? i think you need to stop moaning, get away from a computer (no sell it) and just listen to your Prince cds in private.

how can you expect to know someone just thru the internet? jeez, Gold319 please for your sake, get out the damn house. there is a really big world out there. explore it. meet real people, not usernames. realize that the world is not made up of just Prince fans. and before you get on the 'i hate Britain' tip, that's a lame excuse. all of it. when you look back on it all you're going to think is ,"crikey, all i did was waste so much time on the useless things and not the important things". that shit hits hard you know.

and what's wrong with Meatloaf anyway?

Do you want a list?
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

well, i suppose i'd be very disappointed in everyone if i set up guidelines they need to follow. let people be people. if you want to befriend a bunch of saints, go to sunday service...

if this person was nice and sincere does it really matter what they look like? after all you don't have to be thin and pretty to be beautiful. that's just one short fat persons point of view tho.

I wish you would do us all a favour, get off your arse and get out into the world and experience real life. You complain that the people you meet are not up to the standards you require physically but take a look at yourself in the mirror. I wonder what your ill husband would think if you spent all day online looking for speciments of physical perfection and God knows what you are doing with them.

I think it's disgusting, you are one of the shallowest people I've ever seen on here, your not spiritual at all..your just like all the rest.

Take the internet for what it is, get out and get a life before it's too late!!!

I was just thinking-maybe you need a hobby?

Try making table candles!

You just pour a lot of wax on a table and set it on fire.

biggrin

(That or making toaster puppets, and that's just painful.)

Just think of all the people that you do meet, all the people that you get to share your views with and all the interesting views of all of the other people.

You wouldn't be able to do that without the PC, no need to look any deeper than that though.

Saying that, if you do meet people and you become friends (as many people seem to do), then thats great!

I saw Gold319 at a Prince concert a while back (London 02) and she looks
nothing like she does in this "glamour" shot. She looked like a heroin addict
who had been ridden hard and put back wet.
I dont think she is looking for a spiritual friend - she is looking for some
kind of armarni model who would give her what her husband clearly cant
(or more to the point wont) give her whilst being a therpaist she can call on 24/7
for her to pour her woes out to.
Never have i ever met a more self centered individual totally focused in on her own little
world. Life is what you make it - and yours is passing you by in a wave of
bitterness and regret. People come in all shapes, sizes, colors and perceived levels
of "beauty" take a look in the mirror and ask yourself - do you match up to the
level of perfection you seek in others?? I think you will find the answer right there.
We all have our flaws - some more than others!!!!! Sell that computer, get a job
and book in with a therapist, i think you need proffesional help.
