Detroit metals plant worker killed with sword made on premises, police say

Thursday, October 28, 2004

ASSOCIATED PRESS

A metals plant employee killed a co-worker with a sword he fashioned for himself at the factory, police said Thursday.

The 30-year-old Detroit resident was in custody after the slaying, which occurred at approximately 11:25 p.m. Wednesday, police spokesman James Tate said.

Witnesses told police the man complained he was being bullied by another employee at the factory, Peerless Metals, which makes metal powders used in brakes.

He then finished a sword that he had been working on for several days, Tate said. When he returned, he struck the 40-year-old victim with the sword in the neck area, nearly decapitating him.

The suspect fled the scene but later returned. When police arrived, he was waiting there, drinking a beer.

Witnesses told the police the suspect was interested in "fantasy board games."

Is this CRAZY or what? sad

(The GreenRiver Killer)Gary Leon Ridgway has confessed to 48 killings attributed to him. His cooperation lead to finding four sets of remains. His killings spanned from 1982 to 1998. Ridgway plead guilty to murdering 48 Green River Killer victims on November 5, 2003. Ridgway says strangling young women was his "career."

Sexual Sadism, Cannibalism, Necrophilia -- The term sadism is derived from the French author who lived from 1740 to 1814, Donatien-Alphonse-Francois de Sade, known as the Marquis de Sade . Sadists mix love with cruelty. The practice was recognized as a sexual perversion by Krafft-Ebing in 1898 consisting of strong impulses to coitus, coupled with prepatory acts of maltreatment, even murder (necrophilia, then called "lustmurder") which occurs primarily because of an inability to be satisfied with coitus.

Tony Savage, attorney for Gary Ridgway, who isserving life without parole in state prison; King County sheriff Dave Reichert, eight years as lead investigator on the Green River task force; detective Tom Jensen joined in the investigation in 1984, has worked on it longer than anyone else and interviewed the killer himself; FBI special agent Dr. Mary Ellen O'Toole, a senior profiler, an expert on serial killers who also interviewed Ridgway last year; and Court TV's Nancy Grace, the former prosecutor.

Two bodies on the official list of Green River victims were found in Oregon, which has capital punishment. Authorities believe Ridgway committed from 60 up to hundreds of murders.

Ridgway was 16 when he stabbed his first victim, a 6-year-old boy who was critically injured. Police ignored the boy when he fingered Ridgway as his attacker.

The Devil We Now Know by Carlton Smith -- The Green River murders were more horrific than we imagined. Far from exorcising our fear, Gary Ridgway's confession made the nightmare more real.

In 1983 when Paige Elizabeth Miley 21, talked briefly with a man who would later be accused of four of the 1982-84 Green River murders. The man asked where her "tall, blond friend" was, and Miley guessed he was the abductor of fellow prostitute Kim Nelson two days before.

Ridgway left jewelry he took from victims in women's bathroom at work hoping they would wear it.

* Chapter 1: Green River case started as an eerie echo- Young women ijust disappeared. A sexually motivated killer lured women to his car, and they were never seen again.
* Chapter 2: Unremarkable teen grows into killer - Classmates say Gary Ridgway was congenial, but did not stand out while at Tyee High
* Chapter 3: Air of normalcy was carefully scripted - Ridgway hid turbulent lifestyle from neighbors and coworkers
* Chapter 4: Not even wives or girlfriends saw through his facade
* Chapter 5: Ridgway used many ploys during the hunt. ``There were a few women that for some reason I didn't kill, but they were few and far between.''

In his own words ``I would talk to her ... and get her mind off of the, uh, anything she was nervous about. And think, you know, she thinks, `Oh, this guy cares,' and which I, I didn't. I just want to uh get her in the vehicle and eventually kill her.''

Hatred and arrogance fueled Ridgway "In most cases, when I murdered these women, I did not know their names," Ridgway's statement to the court said. "Most of the time, I killed them the first time I met them. I do not have a good memory for their faces. I killed so many women, I have a hard time keeping them straight."

http://www.pacentral.com/...tmHousman, Markman enter

not guilty pleas

2/28/01

- The couple charged in the fall of 2000 death of an East Waterford woman entered not guilty pleas Tuesday in Cumberland County court.

William Howard Housman, 25, and Beth Ann Markman, 35, both of Newville, appeared separately for their official arraignments.

Housman and Markman are charged with criminal homicide-first degree murder, kidnapping in connection with the death of Leslie Rae White, 18, of East Waterford. They also face charges of theft by unlawful taking, unlawful restraint, abuse of corpse and criminal conspiracy.

Cumberland County District Attorney Skip Ebert, who was not in attendance at their arraignment, could not be reached for comment Tuesday. The Patriot News reported Tuesday that Ebert has filed a notice of aggravating circumstances that will allow him to seek the death penalty at a later date.

According to police reports, Housman and Markman lured White to their trailer, where police claim, the two bound and strangled White with speaker wire before taking White to Virginia, where they placed her body in the trunk of an abandoned car. White disappeared Oct. 4; her body was found Oct. 7.

Housman and Markman will be tried together in a trial tentatively scheduled for sometime in May.

According to police reports, Housman and Markman confessed to killing White when they were in policy custody in Virginia.

i worked with leslie and william. very sad... still has me puzzled to this day
