Mine has gone from average suburban to up-market in like da past 7 yearz!! I've lived here for nearly 20 yearz, and ya get people goin like 'oooh i live in such and so area (where i live)' it'z like rolleyes get over it, it used to be so average!! Used to have a horses stable at da back of where i live too!! It was like i had my own horseys..only not!! lol Yeah, we have a balance of reasonable people and a few lunaticz here and there! Alotta traffic inflow come down my street too. Not really a "community" as such, as not many people really talk to each other, with da exception of this old man we've known since i was a kid dat my mum now takes food to from time to time since his wife passed away. And datz as communal as we get!!

Yup. Dat'z it. nod

My neighborhood is very much like Missy's nod

About 12 miles from Time's Square. Houses run for about half a mil, quite, pretty, peaceful, colonial in style, landscaped lawns and such... I've lived here all my life.

I work in a pretty bad area though, inner city, burnt out houses, lots of litter, no trees, roaches in the Deli cross the street from my run down school, mice in the classrooms, drug raids about twice a week in the buildings around my school DURING SCHOOL HOURS! disbelief

The difference is amazing, especially considering I live about 10 miles from where I work. It makes me appreciate what my parents provided for me.nod
In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular.

Apparantly we have Community Watch meetings at this lil hall down da road called Cantebury Stablez...actually it'z a club of old Jessica Fletchers who have an eye out for any suscipicous goingz on around da area giggle welll...actualy i don't know dat for sure, but datz da impression i get lol I guess anything communal where i live, in da past has been so cliquey, itz annoying! But these dayz itz opened up a bit...but now dat it's opened up a bit...no one carez as much!! giggle Also therez alotta "re-vamping" and renovating...and also alotta town houses being built in yardz...

Heavenly

Where I grew up, we used to know almost everybody around us. It WAS a community. All the kids would play together in the parking lot, or skate together around the neighborhood. It was safe, fun and beautiful.
These days I don't even know the people who live in the appartement next to me. This neighborhood is very empty when it comes t kids playing together and so on...
But I think it is times that changed it. Yes, it the old building where I grew up (and my dad still lives there) people still know each other. But that's because most of them grew up together there. The new people who live there don't care much about their neighbors.

But it's a very well kept neighborhood. I have the president living 3 building away from me. next to him I got the biggest theatre in Israel. Also 2 buildings away I have the Museum of the Islam. So I'm pretty much satisfied biggrin

My neighborhood is mainly single & coupled 20-30somethings with a few young families and older people thrown in. Middle incomes mainly, but across Hennepin Ave by the lake becomes very expensive to live, so much higher incomes out that way. It's a nice neighborhood. There are trees and cute little shops and bars and restaurants within walking distance. It's not as eclectic a neighborhood as it once was. The Uptown spirit ya'll heard about is kind of waning. There was a time this was a hip, artsy, music filled part of town. Now it's been more homogenized and gentrified, with a Gap right in the heart of Uptown. But it's still a nice place to live.

I don't remember. last time I've been there I was about 7-8 years old.
I'll have to check it again soon. Maybe take pictures.
I haven't visited the Jerusalem Theatre either since last decade.
And haven't been to the president's house in 15-20 years also.

Boy, I'm a bad neighbor, aren't I? lol
