Halloween 9........Possibly?

Halloween 9

No official plot yet.

LATEST NEWS

8/11/04
Its been reported that Jake Wadewall (Next Door, When a Stranger Calls) is currently writing the script. I guess that further verifies that the film wont come out until next year.

Now a release date has been set for late July 2005. Also the working title is Halloween: Family Reunion. A lot of people working with the script hate this title so it is probably going to change.

Now the following is the plot I was shown; ***SPOILER***

David Loomis, since his father’s death has been working at Smiths grove. He took over his father’s files except the files of Michael A. Myers, which were kept hidden. When suddenly the body of John Tate is found, rumours fly that Michael has returned to Haddonfield. Loomis receives a phone call asking for Dr. Sam Loomis, the caller only to find that his son has taken over. Unaware that David has been not been told of Michael Myers infamous reign of terror, the caller tells all. In force, David finds his fathers files on Myers and discovers the last 25 years of the Myers saga. Eager to fulfill his father’s wishes, David goes to Haddonfield, to wait for Michael.

You can read an old article over at Fango that talks about what to expect in the film and adds a lot of other interesting tidbits. You can check that here.
http://fangoria.com/fearf...hp?id=1630

DETAILS

- Jaime Lee Curtis will not be in the film.
- They're trying to bring back the old tone and feel the first film had, while at the same time bring something fresh and new to the concept.
- Sean S. Cunningham has nothing to do with the film despite rumors.
-----

This was all of the info. on it that I could find so far. Hopefully plans will go through and there'll be more updates in the future. The article at Fangoria hints around about a possible Michael vs Pinhead movie too. woot! My god, these movies are gettin' out of hand, but I still love em'. The rumored plot for Halloween 9 seems ok though.....just as long as Busta Rhymes don't return with kung-fu. lol

Is it just me, or does the Halloween theme sound almost EXACTLY like music played in Deep Red: The Hatchet Murders? I just noticed that, recently.

I'd definitely welcome another Halloween. I don't know why, but I would.

I can't decide whether or not you're being sarcastic. It's about a kid who kills his sister and his girlfriend, gets put into an insane asylum, or whatever, escapes and returns to his hometown of Haddonfield, slaughtering babysitters, and stuff. It happens over and over and over again. And then it happens again in a sequel.

The first and second ones are pretty good, if you like that sort of thing. The sixth had promise, but was destroyed with some stupid mystic plotline and the death of Donald Pleasance, before the film finished shooting. It did lead to the most ABRUPT ending in history, though. You're in the middle of the movie and suddenly the credits come on and you're like shocked and then confuse and finally reading the screenplay, which explains what was supposed to happen, and then you're hah!

At least that's been my experience.

It's a shame that they killed off Jamie Lee Curtis' character in the last 'Halloween' film (titled "Halloween: Resurrection").I am now gonna refuse to watch any of the upcoming sequels hmph!

The first 'Halloween' movie (from 1978) is the best.'Halloween 2' (from 1981) isn't bad,but most of the other sequels suck, with the possible exception of 'Halloween H20' (from 1998) which wasn't half-bad.

As far as I'm concerned, Halloween is a trilogy made up of the first and second films and H2O. All the rest are BS (especially that stupid Halloween: Ressurection. Just friggin stupid).

This latest film sounds as bad as the last one. I really hope it doesn't get made.

Oh, and Pinhead Vs Michael Myers makes no sense at all. What the hell would bring these characters together at all??? I understood Freddy Vs Jason and Alien Vs Predator, because at least those concepts could match up. Hellraiser and Halloween have truly nothing in common, beyond both being horror films. What's next, Leprecaun Vs The Exorcist?

I dunno. "Halloween: Resurrection" just plain sucked. I remember seeing it with my homie Creepy Clyde and we both left unimpressed. Mikey just isn't scary anymore. They should've let "H20" be the series' swan song.

Yeah,'Halloween: Resurrection' wasn't very good, was it? VERY cheesy and predictable. Now that Jamie Lee Curtis' character has been killed off,it might be time for them to just stop making more of these films.

Why? Her character was brought back for no reason other than to garner a big opening. I'm very sad about her mother dying, but Jamie isn't needed for the series.

If Loomis can go and the series can stay, so can Strode, I always say.

It's just that I think her character (Lori Strode) was the most important part of this story. She actually had a real connection to Michael Myers.Without her,Michael has no purpose. He's now just another psycho killer going around killing strangers for no apparent reason.

Plus,I think Jamie Lee Curtis is an incredible actress.Without her,any future sequels are dead on arrival hmph!

The WHOLE SERIES was brought back pointlessly. All the Halloween films without Laurie Strode were just plain terrible. H2O brought a nice ending to the series, and they should have left well enough alone. Instead, they had a cheesy explanation for how Michael survived, and killed off his main motivation. After that, the flick was just plain stupid, with Myers fighting kung-fu Busta Rhymes (who told him he should get into acting anyway? Stick with rap, Busta).

Laurie IS needed for the series. Myers entire drive was to stalk and kill his sister, and anyone who got in the way of that goal was dead meat. Without it, the series just degenerates into a pointless slasher film. Strode's conflict with her brother lent emotional weight to the films, setting them apart from other movies in this genre. Hell, even the crappy flicks without her (4,5 and 6) still tied-in with the Strode/Myers' conflict. Its the centerpiece to the Halloween mythos.

If I'm not mistaken, Carpenter basically did a slight re-write on that music, just barely making it his own (He's always been pretty open about the stuff he took from other movies. Consider it an homage).

He also borrowed elements from Black Christmas (most notably, the killer POV shot inside the mask).

Whatever happened to Jamie's baby? As far as motivation to kill....I guess it's gonna be Loomis's son...according to the supposed plot. Yeah Michael vs. Pinhead is just plain retrarded.....I still want the plans to go through though. lol

Kevin Williamson (or whatever his name is; that "Scream" guy) decided to ignore ALL Halloween films, other than parts 1 & 2, when he co-wrote H20. I think that was a mistake. It would be cool to see Jamie's baby as a teenager now, and have Michael go after her.

Did any of you guys get the "Halloween" Special Edition DVD set? It contains the first film, plus a whole lotta extras (trailer, interviews, etc).I've seen it a few times,is it worth buying? Inevitably, they will release a huge box set that contains all eight movies,if they haven't done so already.

They haven't released a box set with all movies yet. If they do.....they really need to omit part 3.

Part 3 is the scourge of the slasher genre. Ugh. I hate that film.

Had part five not been atrocious, and part six completly incomprehensible, I might have been okay with the story being continued that was presented in 4, 5 & 6. As it was, that story started off good (4) and then just degenerated from there. I think Williamson made the right move, since Halloween fans were pretty pissed off with the direction that it had taken. Better to just jettison the whole friggin' thing than get messed up in all that BS. H20 was a great sequel to 2, and made for a nice ending to the "trilogy". There was no need for Ressurection, I think most can agree.

Besides, those films didn't have Strode, so there really wasn't a point in acknowledging them.

The anniversary edition is quite nice. I haven't picked it up, since I already own the theatrical cut, as well as the extended edition.

From what I understand, a box set has pretty much been nixed at this point. Too many fans would rather pick and choose which films to get, since they are hotly debated as to which ones are canon. Almost everyone agrees that III isn't worth paying money for.

I totally disagree. Showing the film Scream in H20, which showed the first Halloween, proves that Williamson has no respect for the genre (because, if in Scream Halloween was only a film and then, suddenly, in Halloween, Scream is a film showing Halloween in a sequel to Halloween, which one are we supposed to follow?). I think the series was going okay until Kevin messed it all up. And no, I don't like H20 (although, it's not the worst way you could spend 100 minutes). Even the title is lame.
