I was making dinner tonight and the phone rang and a girl says, "Hi I'm so and so and I'm a freshman from UWRF" so I actually took a call from someone I didn't know. I thought that maybe she was calling for actual school reasons but it turns out she was trying to hit me up to donate money to the Fine Arts department.

After I explained to her that I didn't really have any money to donate and if I did I would probably give it to other causes she asked me, "Don't you think it's your responsibility to give something back?" I found this pretty insulting so I just hung up the phone instead of getting into a thing with some lackey.

This is becoming more and more annoying to me. It seems that my school is continually hitting me up for cash. Isn't the tuition I paid to attend enough? Why are we supposed to continue to give after we leave? My friends mom was asked if she wanted to donate money to the school when she received her graduation announcement and tickets for her son. She had just struggled to pay the $20,000 a year private school tuition and they were hitting her up for more money 5 minutes after he had graduated which IMO is wrong.

Is it really necessary to mail me something every 3 months asking for money or to call me at my home and ask for money? I feel for the school but perhaps they should learn to live within a budget.

Is there anyone here who donates to their school? I mean if I hit the lottery I would think of them but until then any extra money I have will go to better causes.

I never give any donations except for the war veterans as there aren't many left anymore here.
