Amityville Horror: The Truth

http://www.amityvillemurders.com/

So I started researching this stuff after finding out they were going to remake the movie and I was shocked to find out all the recent discoveries that had been made about the two families.....

1) The initial claim of posession was made up by the son, his lawyer *and* the second family who moved into the house who

2) Couldnt afford the house and wanted an easy way out of the mortgage *and* to make money off of the book deal and movie deals...

3) The son who killed his family is now claiming his sister and two friends were involved in the murder...Evidence points out the sister might have been involved...

4) Why the fuck is hollywood remaking movies that dont need them? Amityville, The Entity, Texas Chainsaw, Willy Wonka....its sad.. disbelief

at anyrate, check out the link if your into this kinda stuff....its a neat read.....

Willy Wonka....

I'm glad Willy Wonka is being re-made. Roald Dahl and his family were never happy with the original movie -they said it was too innocent and cheery. The story was intended to be dark and a bit disturbing.

I can't verify it, but I've heard that Dahl's estate only allowed the company in charge of this project to do it if they went with a "dark" director like Tim Burton, which they have.

I've had kinda mixed feelings about it myself.

Given that it's Burton, I've heard he wants to make something more true to the book like you said, but I grew up with the original.

Johnny Depp could make an interesting Wonka-and with no music I'd curious as to how it'd turn out.

They usually do good work.

Yep. smile I hope it turns out well.

I'm too young to have really grown up with the original, but I'd watched it a few times when I was younger. I never liked it very much.

Then again, I had some macbre tastes for a little kid. My favourite scene in The Little Mermaid was when Ursula was electrocuted. smile

lol

A healthy childhood to me!

Aren't most children's stories dark? At least the classics are always based in some sort of evil and good, and a lesson.

I think Willy Wonka definitely has that and maybe the remake could make that even more obvious in a darker way, even though it was well done in the first one.

biggrin

(I think the Org has cobwebs again-don't worry bout the double post.)

I think that the remake of Willy Wonka should be interesting. I remeber when this movie first came out. There was a alot controversy behind the movie when it came out b/c some felt that the movie had drug references. Hopefully, history won't repeat itself.

Well, I see your point, but in the case of BOTH Willy Wonka and Amityville, the films were piss-poor adaptations. Oh sure, we have fond childhood memories of WW, but that film is really a dumbed-down, sugar-coated mess that loses the edge the book had.

As for Amityville, the film was an AWFUL adaptation that leaves out huge chunks of the book. I thought it was scary when I was in third grade, but it hasn't aged well at all. Its really hokey!

From what I've heard, in the case of both of these films, the scripts are based directly off the books. In that regard, they aren't really remakes. Personally, I view both as being different takes on the novels.

I didn't know about the remake of The Entity. I know that's also based on a book, but I never read it.

UptownDeb

Years ago me and some friends drove by the house (think it was on Ocean Ave/St?). Aside from the glowing red eyes peering out the window, everything looked fine.

The drive by was for real, though.

I think if Amityville were to actually tell the "true" story then I might be interested..however, they seem to be going for a re-make ala "The Haunting"....the casting already has me shaking my head...the dad looks no older then 25 and he mom is a young beautiful blond.....please!!!!

re: The Entity, I always enjoyed that movie much better then Amityville...Sure if they cut out the whole university research ending (which never happened) then it would have been a much better movie.....Now if the producers of The Entity find an A-List actress to do it and stay faithful to the story (ie, a woman raped by a ghost) then I might be interested...

i think its interesting that The Entity & Amityville stories are considered the two most famous casses of paranormal activity...While the people involved in Amityville have milked the situation for fame and money the lady involved in the Entity case used a fake name to tell her story and moved away to live in obscurity..she is hounded by the media to tell her story but always declines and begs for peace.....And most experts seem to think her story is true..there are even pictures of the "entity" that have yet to be debunked..im gonna have to search for these things and post them...its interesting stuff....

Totally see your point. I DO think a movie of the actual story and the hoax would be an interesting film, but I also like the idea of an acurrate adaptation being done. I view the book as a great piece of fiction, nothing more. As for the cast, I'll reserve judgement until I see the movie, but I don't disagree.

Interesting that the University stuff was bogus. That was the part of the movie I really thought was kinda dumb, but I always assumed it was from the book. Could be interesting to see a faithful adaptation.

As for the validity of either story, I just don't know. I know very little regarding the Entity case, and I haven't seen the pictures you speak of (know any links?) It seems like one of the more plausible stories, albeit a bit strange and disturbing. Amityville? Completely bogus. The book is a wondeful ghost story, but its just as fictional as any Stephen King novel. Its pretty obvious from all the evidence that the Lutz's and Weber concocted the whole thing.
