I actually got teary eyed. Russ was one of my heroes. He appreciated women, loved them...and was one of the last remaining true hedonists. We're listening to the soundtrack to "Beyond The Valley of the Dolls" right now in my office.
I'll miss you, Russ. Thanks for the mammaries.

As a young man I enjoyed his movies when I couldn't get my hands on my brother's porn. [Edited 9/22/04 8:16am]

Awww, man!! Russ, you will be missed you old pervert, you!! Do not hurry yourself in your spirit to become offended, for the taking of offense is what rests in the bosom of the stupid ones. (Ecclesiastes 7:9)

Note that the screenplay was by none-other than Roger Ebert!!! Do not hurry yourself in your spirit to become offended, for the taking of offense is what rests in the bosom of the stupid ones. (Ecclesiastes 7:9)

I am deeply deeply saddened by this. I just saw BVD on the big screen and still have In the Long Run in my head.
I have looked for info on date and cause and can't find it anywhere. I know that BVD will now get to DVD...but I was hoping that it would not be because of this. I need to go have a moment. Christian Zombie Vampires

i feel really lucky and honored that i got to see "faster pussycat! kill! kill!" on the big screen at Film Forum in NYC, almost....eek...almost ten years ago! damn i'm old.
i love everything i've seen by russ meyer - he brought a playfulness and an art to the ogling of women that can only be appreciated by watching one of his twisted classics with an open mind...but to me, "faster pussycat" will always be a tribute to the strength and fury of women. tura satana was FIERCE in that movie, and i maintain that nobody could have captured her voluptuously horrific beauty like russ meyer.

Tura rocked! she could speak whole lines of dialog just by the look on her face! Haji was good too. I first saw clips of it at Berlin and HAD to know what the movie was. Off topic..Beriln freeking ROCKS. Best dang bar I have ever been to hands down. except for the bathrooms. Surprised the girls still got the doors on their bathrooms! Christian Zombie Vampires
