Is it ok to exercise while ill?

I have a throat infection, fever and gastrointestinal problems...is it still ok to do any exercise? I've taken a few days off, but I'm worried that I'll gain weight.

I broke it before a few months back...my dentist fixed it and it broke again today. I think they're going to have to pull it. I'm scared! boxed I've never had a tooth pulled before.

hug Don't be scared, it's not too bad, I've had a tooth pulled before myself. If you don't want to be awake when they pull it, you can always ask if you could be given something so that you could sleep through the procedure. Good luck, and keep us posted.

No, you'll experience immunosuppression, and actually risk worsening the symptoms and lengthening the illness.

Nah, you just need to vedge more.

Take it easy-you've gotta give more time for these things to clear up.

Don't make any sudden movement, kick back, and don't feel bad about it.

biggrin

(Maybe this all means especially with the tooth thing you're due for a big dose of good luck.)

Yep, I recommend you rest up. Exercising when ill can prolong the illness or even make it worse.

If worse comes to worse and have you cancel-you'll have other interviews.

You need to worry about you and getting better right now, though.

I think it's a better impression to cancel this one (even if you can't reschedule) if you have to and then go into one when all this crap is taken care of.

Unless you're Superwoman I doubt you could go in and fully make the impression you want to.

Don't feel guilty for needing to kick back and take care of yourself-if you were busy working you'd still need to do the same thing.

Stay hydrated and keep yourself entertained when you're not resting with some good movies or something-and don't feel guilty, this happens to everybody-employed, unemployed, holograms, etc.

The key is to get yourself better, not to try to burn things at both end and going out for an interview when you're not over this.

biggrin

i've tried working out when sick -- thinking i could kick it out of my system -- but it seems to just make things worse -- rest is the best thing for you at this point -- you'll get better sooner than later when you rest, and then you can get back on track -- take care of urself!

Apples, you know I watch alot of sports...lol
I know that plenty of athletes have played some of their best games when
they were'nt feeling well. Micheal Jordan comes to mind...he was damn near falling over, but scored over 35 pts in a finals game. One theory is that you are more willing to concentrate when you don't have your full body capacities, so you play better.

Feel better! hug
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

It is not a good idea to work out if you are sick. When you work out your immune system is taxed, since you are already sick your immune system would be weakend more which would allow for that bug to be more opportunistic thus making you even more sicker. Rest and let your immune do it's job...

The only time I forego a work out is when I'm nausiated. Having a head cold, earache, sore throat still allows me to work out. But I sure cant vommit on the equipment at the gym:)
