i used to answer it by simply saying "studio" because i thought that sounded all hip and shit. then one time my mom called and went off on me about how i didn't live in any goddamn studio. so i stopped answering the phone that way.

As I only have cellular phone and so I'm able to see who's calling me, I usually say just "Hello + caller's name" Time flies like an arrow

I've been known to answer it, "what it is?"
Normally I just say hello. My husband, when he knows it's myself or Matt calling, answers it, "yeah?" This from the man who was APALLED by American phone manners when he first moved here.

When I answer the phone, I act out the skit from the end of Jughead where Tony makes a fool out of that sleazy moneyminder.
My friends stopped calling me months ago because of this, but that's cool, they're probably all moneyminders. ~ I'D BUY THAT FOR A DOLLAR ~

I answer by saying, "Yeah, I'd like to order a pizza...."

I have caller id, so I usually know whos calling:
"hello" if its a relative or a friend "what up bitch" if its my best friend "hi baby" if its one of my kids "what do you want" if its my ex "hola" if its a spanish speaking relative I must admit, I have a problem with answering my phone. I get too lazy and if its not within reach, i let it ring.

You should hear the silence that comes afterwards... Reminds me of the time Calvin did that in the "Calvin and Hobbes" comic strip. Great one! "Hello, this is Calvin. I'd like to order a large anchovy pizza." Caller ID is nice. Depending on who it is, I sometimes go with one of the following: "What it is?" "What?" "NOW what do you want?" "Whassup!" One of the best I had was a friend calling me right back (in order to split the phone bill for that session), and in my best Speedy Gonzales voice, I answered with "Eh...hello?" There was dead silence on the other side of the line for a good 5 to 10 seconds until I started cracking up.

I'd like to order a large anchovy pizza." It can completely baffle the caller if done right...lol I did that to my sister once, and she just stuttered and said "Wha.....uh.....wait...." She had no idea what to say back to me...
