Mink's a wonderful writer. Actually, many of the Dreamlanders were great writers. Cookie Mueller published several books (although, sadly, her anthology is out of print) and Mary Vivian Pearce wrote a few essays.
I'm seeing "A Dirty Shame" on Saturday. I'm sooooo ready!!!!! [Edited 9/20/04 19:23pm]

Ex-Moderator | I'm one of those people who don't like to read too much about a film before I see it, so I'm gonna have to come back to this article later. But not too much later, I hope! |

I'm seeing "A Dirty Shame" on Saturday. I'm sooooo ready!!!!! [Edited 9/20/04 19:23pm] I have "Ask Dr. Mueller" and "A Cure for Pimples" - I had no idea the former was out of print, but I haven't seen anything from the "High Risk" publishing imprint on the shelves for quite some time, so unfortunately I guess it makes sense. Cookie was a really great, really funny, really sad writer. She wrote a really charming essay about running into Edith Massey in the East Village at like 5am or something, and just walking around with her at Waverly Place and realizing what a sweet old lady she was. It was adorable.

SELMA'S STRIP CLUB EMBARRASSMENT Selma Blair used a late-night chat show appearance to apologize to her husband Ahmet Zappa for frolicking with a gay stripper in a Canadian club. The actress hit the headlines in Toronto last week after she enjoyed a ladies night at a gay strip club called Remingtons -- and was caught helping a hunk get naked. Appearing on Jay Leno's "The Tonight Show" on Friday, Blair apologized to her husband, claiming she only went to the club because eccentric director John Waters insisted she and the rest of his "A Dirty Shame" cast party there after the movie's Toronto Film Festival premiere. She revealed, "I get plucked out of the crowd to sit on a stool and they ask me to undress the gentleman on stage, and I thought, 'Oh, you know there will be a bow-tie and some slinky tuxedo panty or something.'" But the stripper was keen to take everything off and Blair was left embarrassed by his excited attitude. She recalls, "For a gay guy, he was real excited. He was having me undo his pants and I was real nervous. He's asking me, 'Undo the pants,' and I'm like, 'Ooh, my husband will get mad at me,' and he's saying, 'Trust me, your husband won't care.' "I'm sitting there with my head in my hands and I'm just mortified and I look up, and sure enough there's about 10 inches two inches from me, and it was a bit much, if you know what I mean. So I went back to the head in hands and hoped for it all to be over. "I want my husband to know I'm sorry and he looks just as good as those men." Christian Zombie Vampires
