THE SILVER SWAN...

The silver swan, who living had no note.
When death approach'd, unlock'd her silent throat;
Leaning her breast against the reedy shore,
Thus sung her first and last, and sung no more.
Farewell, all joys; O Death, come close mine eyes;
More geese than swans now live, more fools than wise.

it is quite moving. we try to expose the patients to poetry whenever we can.

however after "the little engine that could" half the ward was unable to sleep due to trauma.

many things stay with hans-bratwurst, dementia, unsteady hands, dreams about parakeets..

you know I'm reading a book (almost finished it) called "The Blackstone Chronicles" by John Saul - it's about an asylum in a little town supposedly near Boston (fictional town, I'm assuming)

it's very good! .....but very spooky eek

fiction is usually quite relative, miss natisse. or about our relatives.

i will add this to our book list. like oprah, but much less frightening.
