I have mixed feelings myself about them myself. I really enjoyed the clean-ups done to the bluescreen effects, and certain changes were definitely for the better (removing the retarded Ewok song!!!). Still, some things sucked royally, like Greedo shooting first (although, I've heard that has been changed back for the DVD), and the annoying "musical number" in ROTJ.

I really don't have any problem with the concept of a "Special Edition" as long as the originals eventually see the light of day (and I think we will in 2007, for the 30th anniversary). Its the concept of ONLY making those available that bugs me (at least Spielberg put out both versions when ET hit DVD. His Special Edition sucked worse than ANYTHING in the Star Wars Trilogy SEs)

I have to see what resources I can scrounge up to get this set. It is definitely a priority, though.

I was but then I found out that Lucas screwed with them yet AGAIN! Like at the end of Return of the Jedi, where Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Yoda reunite, he superimposes Hayden's face over the original actor's. He also adds and changes the dialogue throughout episodes IV-VI even more than when he reissued them in 1997.
I'll rent them but I'd probably get the original unedited versions if the chance came up. Lucas has gone completely insane.
Hell as if Greedo shooting first was the only thing to worry about; I wouldn't put it past Lucas to have Han's shot miss Greedo and Greedo lives.
