Question about NEW Star Wars Trilogy DVD Set Counting the days 'til the DVD set comes out...I'm sure I'm late in the game with this rumor...Is it true that they added in hayden Christiansen's (I, II and III) face into the infamous "Vadar's Death" scene at the end of RETURN OF THE JEDI?
I guess it makes the whole series (I-VI) flow together more but I guess I'm sorta bummed-why can't just get the original versions a lot of us grew up with. What do you guys think about adding this in? Let the rain come down...17 days....

From what I read at http://www.dvdanswers.com it's only the Special Editions, which they confirmed with Lucasfilm. Evidently George doesn't have any plans to put out the original versions.
That's such a shame. I didn't grow up with the new edition, and it seems like it takes away from a lot of the series. The fact the effects lacked in ways was part of why I always loved it. They did the best with what they could. I don't see how putting out the original version too would hurt anything-it'd give the fans an option, and more people would probably be likely to buy it. The Special Editions were just an excuse to make more money and for Lucas to mess with stuff he shouldn't have, vision or not. Plus, Ewoks rule. (Bring it on people!)

You'd think they'd be able to fit both versions of the moves onto the DVD's, or at least make the original versions into some kind of 'easter egg'

What do you guys think about adding this in? The scene where Vader actually dies is still the original actor, but the ghost shown when Luke cremates him is Hayden. http://www.thedigitalbits...ilogy.html There's pictures of the changes that have been made here. ~ I'D BUY THAT FOR A DOLLAR ~

I've got one major problem.
Ok..its cool Hayden is now the ghost...but... that would imply that his 'force self' is idealized to a look of him in his prime. But wouldn't it have made more sense to at the very least give him a more wizened appearance...minus any artificial enhancements... to match the likewise wizened appearances of Yoda and Obi-Wan? If he looks young... wouldnt they have wanted to too? But since they appear old.. shouldn't he have also? Luke looking over there.. it seems like he'ld be looking at cousin Sparky Skywalker... instead of the image of his father.

WOW...thanks!!!! AWesome stills...I do think if they used Hayden maybe they should have "aged" him a bit to at least look as old as Anakin did played by Sebastian Shaw... The DVD rips have been on P2P networks for over 2 months now and they're pretty cool... They cleaned it up nicely and "enhanced" it even further from the 1997 SE versions (Luke's landspeeder, some rebel space crafts, the "greedo/Solo" scene and a lot more...) Still hoping for an eventual release of "The Original Trilogy" though... O(+>NIИ<+)O

I guess it's something he figured the fans don't hold all that sacred. Sebastian Shaw is not thought of as a main ingredient. I bet if Lucas had replaced sir Alec with Ewan, there would have been a lynching. Here's the reasoning given from that site. It helps: Lucas' rational (as he actually explains briefly in the audio commentary - a rare instance where he comments on a change) is that when Vader joins the Force, he's able to retain his original identity as he was when he died as Anakin Skywalker (in Episode III). Since Yoda and Ben retained their good identities until they were old, that's how their Force ghosts appear. Yeah, maybe it's a stretch... but within the logic of the universe, it does make sense. Like it or not. This helped me to understand it better. I guess the man wants to tell the story the most accurate way he can. BTW, I feel very geeky right now.
