I just got a dell inspiron 1000. I want it to be wireless, the whole pc card thing is confusing.... so what is it I need to get to be able to use it wireless???? Help me please!

Check with your current cable/dsl provider before you go buy all the equipment on your own. I use RoadRunner, and for $29.95 they will hook up up to two computers wireless, that includes the router and two wireless cards. There is supposed to be an additional $4.95 per month added on to my bill for this, but they are doing a promotion right now where they waive that for a year. If you were to buy two wireless cards and a wireless router in the store, it would easily cost you over $150-$175

If your laptop doesnt have a wireless card built in, you would have to buy one to snap in the side. They run about $60. There are also wireless devices that will plug into your USB, but every one I used was a piece of shit and the connection was very slow and would frequently drop.

If you want wireless, basically you need a wireless router and a wireless card for each computer you have. The modem plugs into the router, and the router sends the connection to your computer(s).
