I don't know the whole story but I just heard from Byron and his Dad is in Baltimore and his sister is going to go pick him up. Thank you God!

Just so you know...

My sister got a call from the Baltimore police this afternoon...they had picked up my father at around 5am this morning.. I'm not sure yet where he's been or why he was out so early (my mind fills with images of him out all night...I pray that was not the case )...he either couldn't or wouldn't tell them where he was staying, so they checked his ID...unfortunately, his driver's license still says Paris, Texas...so the Baltimore police called the Paris, Texas police...they in turn, told the Baltimore police about the first time my father got picked up for similar circumstances (appearing disoriented, not sure where he was going, etc)...they had a contact number of my 2nd cousin in Houston, and gave that number to the Baltimore police, who then tried calling her for most of the morning and afternoon. When they finally reached her, she gave them my sister's number and they contacted her, telling my sister that they had my father there, that he was ok, but wasn't sure where he should be taken...my sister said she'd drive out and pick him up herself.

Still waiting to hear more in detail what must have occurred...just completely thankful that he's ok...

To have a loved one missing for days...that is a hell I pray none of you ever have to experience.

There is no harder discomfort, than not knowing of the whereabouts or condition of someone who means everything to you...*sigh*...being a parent, your biggest nightmare is for that loved one to be your child. It's such a devistating feeling that my mind shuts down just imagining it... Dealing with this, especially from so far away, completely drained every ounce of strength and optimisism I thought I had...I never felt so alone as I did waiting for hours at the airport, praying to God that he would step off the plane, completely oblivious as to what he just put us all thru...When he didn't, I didn't want to leave, yet I didn't want to stay...you just go numb...I wanted my phone to ring, yet was afraid that if it did it would be bad news. I've slept about 10 hours total over the past 3 nights...and I just prayed constantly for his safety...and trust me, knowing that so many of you gave your prayers for him and the rest of my family gave a comfort that's unimaginable...

Sweeny...God love her...she talked to me last night, for an hour or two...helped me see things in a slightly more positive manner. Muse offered her ear as well...I almost called her before going to bed, just to say "thank you", but texted messaged instead...I didn't want those moments of encouragement to go by unnoticed...I got emails from AppleKisses and RipHer2Shreds (whom I've never talked to before..), text messages each day from Natisse...and a Yahoo Messenger IM from Summerdawn, letting me know she was here for me should I need an ear. After talking to Sweeny, I came here quickly to see the thread I started up (Kim had mentioned it to me on the phone)...I couldn't believe it had so many replies, and each one effected me. I couldn't log on and respond, it was too draining to read...but I went to bed telling myself that there were other prayers out there for my father than just mine and my family's...again, you have no idea how much comfort that gives your soul.

I'm rambling...but too much going thru my mind and thoughts and heart...

Anything I did, didn't feel like enough to me, I wish I could have physically been there for you Byron, but my thoughts were with you non stop.
The only experience I've had even remotely like yours was on 9-11. My dad's were abouts was unknown to us for a few hours, and even though it's not the same situation, I'm sure the terror isn't all that different. Go to sleep hon, you need it.
