who should be the new James Bond for the next film?

Pierce Brosnon is out as Bond so who do you think could take his place?

Hulk Hogan! "Bond, James Bond brother!!!"

(note, this joke was shamelessly stolen from the Talkbackers at AICN.)

Clive Owen

The cat who played the assassin in "Bourne Supremacy" would make a good one too.

I know Eric Bana really well because I worked for his accountant & got 2 know him on one to one basis during the period he was filming Chopper. I have 2 say that he would be pretty hard 2 beat as Bond. Superior qualities by far.

You know what? I'm not sure I give a shit anymore.

Bond movies. I grew up with them. Been going to the cinema to see them since I was 6. The last one was the first time I didn't bother going to the big screen.

I'm going to use a very harsh metaphor here, so forgive me. Bond movies are like an old friend who's blown their mind with too many hard drugs in ridiculous quantities. You kind of stick with them for what they were, even though they've become a complete drag and aren't any kind of fun anymore.

That's why I was so excited by Quentin Tarrantinos brilliant idea of going back to basics and doing a Bond film that actualy owed something to Ian Flemimng. However, like all perfect dreams, it was completly unfeasable. A maverick like Tarantino could never work within the major studio system, especialy with a lucrative franchise.

I think Brosnan was a great Bond but, apart from "The World Is Not Enough" which I really liked, I thought all the Bond films he appeared in were shit. In fact, since "Live & Let Die" the only Bond films that I could say hand-on-heart, I thought were any good were "Octupussy" and "TWINE". That's it.

Yeah, I'll still sit down and watch them like every other sucker, but deep down, I'll know I'm watching a piece of shit.

Come now, John Major is surely in line to play Clark Kent in Superman: The Geriatric Years.

Hmmm, I thought all of the Roger Moore films, with the exception of For Your Eyes Only, sucked shit through a straw. I didn't care much for Brosnan's films (with the exception of the last one, which actually surprised me in that it knew when to stick to the formula, and when to deviate) but I did like him as Bond. The rest of your post I completely concur with.

I personally think that Antonio Sabato Jr. would be excellent.

But didn't they end up picking that idiot from "Phone Booth"?
