Are There any Karen Finley Fans?

She is so Great with her shows. I saw her a few years back. She's Political and a Lesbian ...Are any people here fans of her Stage Shows? Ellaborate since I forgot. Funny thing at the last show on Varick she gave free glasses of wine to the Crowd. We sat on Pails also. She was Exciting..Anybody seen any of her shows lately? Has she done any around Gay PRIDE Time?

I hate her, personally...I read her interview in the RE-Search Pranks book and I thought she was a hateful, vile person...

I'm trying to remember - was it Karen Finley who did a piece dressed as a vagina in Mondo New York? I seem to recall her being nude while doing a loooong, dreary monologue about boiling the testicles of businessmen...

I saw her several months back here in Minneapolis and got just the opposite feeling - I found her to be quite compassionate and engaging. Loopy? Yeah, but she puts on an amazing show. This particular show I saw about about post-9/11 NYC. She did it while channeling Liza Minnelli. The Liza bit didn't work so well, but the rest was amazing. She brought some woman up on stage and incorporated her into the show after her mobile went off during the production.

i saw one of her shows in austin when i first moved there a few years back. i was even called out of the audience to pour honey on her while she was nude. i have also read her collected works.

when i saw her, i had already been informed of her fight with the NEA (national endowment for the arts) and that she was one of the "NEA 4" whose work was put on trial by right wing zealots who wanted to cut funding for the NEA. i found her show to be rather pedantic and a bit silly, and to me it seemed like a lot of empty shock attempt, which particularly fell flat in austin, which is an extremely liberal town. then i read her collected works, and found her earlier stuff to be quite impressive, particularly "we keep our victims ready"

but latter day karen reminds me of say alice cooper, or kiss. trying to seem cutting edge in shocking with tactics that are 20 years too old and rather pointless.

Ouch! - though it does seem a pattern's developed. I think we've got an appreciation for ELO, the High Llamas and Come in common, at least...

Absolutely nothing personal, I assure you...
