Genius needed to offer advice on ipod (reward offered) Hi,
I'm having problems with my ipod. I use xp. When i import a cd into itunes, all the track names appear etc. However the after i have imported the cd, i can not hear any music. Instead, the only sound i get is a continous 'clicking' sound which lasts for the duration of each track I am a novice on computers, i have tried apples forums but i have failed to generate any response. I am willing to offer a Prince CD reward to the first successful solution offered. many thanx Luv Lisa You do as I say

No bribes needed.
Here's a brief explanation. You have to intall the disc that came with the ipod to load the ipod operating system, without that everything I'm saying is pointless. Under preferences in itunes, you can set your settings to import music from a cd when you put it in your cd player. There's a lot of other settings for where you keep your music and blah, blah, blah but we're just going over what you need to get music on the ipod. Now plug your ipod in to you computer (this uses a firewire connection) While in itunes, you have a master list of all of music and and area to the left to create playlists, this is where your ipod should show up. By clicking on the ipod you will be able to see what's on it. Playlists are how you organize music to put onto the ipod. Now all you do is drag your playlists onto the ipod and all the music goes with it. When you're done, right click on the ipod icon and select "eject ipod" and disconnect it, there you go. Some discs won't copy but most will. If you have a problem with the ipod, turn the hold button on once, and then hold down the menu and play buttons at the same time and that will reboot the ipod.

Hi,
Thanks for the help slave2dagroove. However, i have itunes installed already. In the past i have sucessfully transferred my cd collection to my ipod. however, my computer crashed once and it was necessary to reinstall itunes. Since then i have been unable to add songs from cds to my ipod. When i import them, it provides me with all the correct track names etc... However it does not allow any music tpo be played - instead it plays a continuous clicking sound which lasts for the duration of each track. it will even let me transfer these files to my ipod (not that i want to!). Any other advice. The offer still stands people You do as I say

Again, go to your preferences to make sure that you are creating mp3's and check all of your settings as to where they're putting them and all the details in the preferences.
Then understand that some cd's have copyright protection so that itunes can not read them (Velvet Revolver was like that for me). There's fixes and get-arounds for this but if EVERY cd doesn't work, then re-install itunes and repeat above said advice. ![]()
