Birth Control...THE PATCH....WTF???

How can this little bandaid control pregnancy's???
It's so small, and there's nothing on it....
I'm gettin' nervous...

Should I?

or

Not?

Well, it's already been done.
Wish me luck.

I would recommend the injection "patches" you can get...they last for 6 - 12 months and you don't have to remember to take anything! I take Hormone Replacement Therapy for a different reason (you can get HRT, too, in the "patch" form) and am going to try it nod

I can't wait till I don't have to worry about taking it every day!!

I've been thinking about this too hmmm

I think the shot maybe the better way to go....I'm fed up with condoms.
In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular.

hans seems to get these confused with dissolving breath mint strips.

his breasts have never seemed more firm, however.

Agree 100 percent about condoms....no no no!

We've tried the pill, but it was time to get off of them.
Now we're trying the patch...

I have been using an estrogen patch for almost 4 years now and I have had NO problems whatsoever with it other than sometimes it comes unstuck a bit around the edges, but that's a pretty minor "side effect" to deal with and I can usually avoid that problem if I clean the skin well using rubbing alcohol before I apply the patch. I change it once a week. I definitely like the patch a lot better than having to take a pill every day or dealing with stomach upset (which happens to me).

I hope the patch works out for you. biggrin

Oh hell no regular condoms are bad enough mad

To be honest I'm not to careful with them, that is if I am with a serious partner whom I know is "safe" and I can trust to pull out in time. The thing is I'm pretty paranoid so I freak out that something happened anyway redface

It's time for me to ditch the trojans for good. nod

hans and i believe that the trojans actually lost that war, is that a correct statement?

it is best advised not to trust your birth control from the losing team.

I do understand your worry. I realize it's not quite the same thing since with my patch I am not having to worry about preventing pregnancy but before I started using this estrogen patch, I couldn't see how a small stick-on patch could provide the medication I needed to prevent bone loss, hot flashes, etc. Seemed weird to me and I was skeptical.

Fortunately, it's worked great and much better even than I'd expected.

It's amazing what they've been able to do as far as patches go with delivering medication directly through the skin, but I do relate to your worries about that little patch being enough to prevent pregnancy. Just apply and use it correctly and it's going to be fine. smile

sweeny, that is sooooo risky seriously, you do know the man leaks during intercourse, it is not propelled by ejaculation but it can still cause pregnancy, the fact is it is really rich in sperm.

lots of women fall pregnant using the withdrawel methord, it is not a methord of birth control

i would really research deproprovera (not sure if i spelt that correctly... the injection anyway) before getting it...

you have to think - do i want 6 mos worth of hormone in my body all at once? I don't claim to know much about it but have had friends who have been on it.

once you have the shot, you can't reverse it... so if you are having bad side effects you have to run the course until the hormones have worked their way out of your body.

my vote would be for the patch

The patch is great but keep in mind if you ever decide to come off of it and have kids....its takes a year to get out of your system

...try the ring instead, no one will ever see it smile

my friend tried out the patch for a little while. it worked for the time being but she stopped using it because after a couple days it would look like how a band aid gets with the nasty black outer stickey stuff.
