Importance of Friends?

How important are friends in your life? How would you describe a true friend? What is the longest friendship you've had in your life?

My friends are my family. True friends apologize, accept apologies, laugh with you, cry with you, and tell you when you look cute. The longest friendship I've had has been going for 26 years now. I've been friends with the girl who grew up across the street from me since I was 3. I was maid of honor in her wedding last year. She's more like a little sister to me than "just" a friend. We've talked about it a few times over the years and we both know that no matter where we end up in life we'll always be there for each other. That's a friend.

wow that is so great for you guys!smile I moved around so much growing up I was never able to have a lasting friendship. The ones I have made recently seem to be true friends even tho someone of my family think I am crazy to have real friends online lol. I also think friends are important and I also know they can also be the ones that hurt you the most.

Right on!
I would not know what I would have done without my friends the last year. As some of you know I had a rough last year and my friends (here on this site and in real life) kept me up when I was feeling down.

In real life I have four amazing close friends, of which I know Marielle for 15 years now...

Here on this site I have known Moonbeam the longest and the crew we used to hang with in the chat when it still was fun.
We all have moved on the the forums, or in Moonbeam's case; other sites.

A true friend to me is a person who accepts your good side as well as your bad side.

Although I'm an easy person to get a along with, I've never been able to keep friends, or rather to keep in touch... The only true friend that I have is with my boyfriend of 5 1/2 years now. I also traveled a lot and lost track of people I've met along the way. I think part of my problem is that I'm a very quiet and private person. I don't talk very much and hate talking on the phone. I've also traveled and moved around alot. Sometimes I do get lonely and wish that I still had my friends from College or school to socialise with, but most of the time, I'm content being alone. I don't find it easy to meet and make meaningfull friendships – maybe I was destined to be a loner.

Although I love my family dearly and am very close to them (my brother and grandmother especially) my friends have always played a very important role in my life...I love them dearly and my closest friends are like family.

In the worst times of my life it hasn't been my family (once again, except for my brother) who's been there for me...it's been my FRIENDS who have picked me up and made me breathe again

In the best times of my life my friends are always there with me also...and I'm honoured and humbled to think they regard me close to them worship

Friends are important, but I don't need more than 2 or 3 really good ones. I'm very demanding anyway, but that's only cause there's nothing I wouldn't do for my friends...no questions asked.

I was reminded of the true value of each of my friendships over the past 3 days...heart rose

Like Joey, I don't need a lot of friends...if I have 2 or 3 sincere, reliable and loving friends I feel blessed. nod...although right now, I feel like I have many. smile
