A few weeks ago. I'm participating in a clinical trial of a possible HIV vaccine, and they routinely do blood work that includes an HIV test. I've got another appointment in less than two weeks, and they'll test once again.

Assuming that I'm not getting all placebos (this is a double-blind study), I've been injected with chemically-modified DNA that should cause the body to produce proteins that look like proteins from HIV. The idea is that this might trick the immune system into producing antibodies that prevent HIV infection.

Right now they're not actually testing whether the vaccine is efffective. Rather, this is a "Phase I" clinical trial where they use a small number of people to help determine:

• Is this vaccine safe?
  
• Does it produce any sort of immune system response?

Here's a test that everyone should have.....and as often as an AIDS test....HPV. It is the most common STD and could be potentially dangerous to women. There are various strains to this virus that can cause cervical cancer. One of the most common symptoms of HPV is gential warts.

The scariest thing about this particular virus is that it is contracted by skin to skin contact; Condoms cannot protect you from this virus. The plus side is that the virus usually passes through your system.....A lot of people have or have had it and do not know.

2000 and every two years twice before that. i had one every time i was pregnant with each of my 3kids. the first time i was scared because i knew i had not been careful in the past. the other two times they did it without telling me. but i would taken the tests anyway for the sake of my kids. would i be scared to take it again? no. i know more now.

every sexually active person, no matter of relationship status should have an HIV test every 6 months. Sexually active gay men should also get a flu shot once a year, hep a, b & c shots twice a year as well as the full gammet of std tests when u get your HIV tests done. Or so muh doctor tells me. Play safe or don't play at all.
