You lucky, lucky bastard. (What was it like? ) I really used to love her character. Some of my friends have said that Marina and I look alike. As result, at my job, I was the but of Star Trek jokes but I really didn't care.

You look like Marina Sirtis... Can you sense what I'm feeling? I'm kinda late jumping in here but here are some brief comments I have on the Trek series: TOS: Kirk, Spock, McCoy, Scotty and the rest set the tone and are sci -fi legends. I never compare later series with this one. For its time it was a ground breaker and revolutionized TV. The not-so- subtle mesages in a lot of the story lines were very risque in those days... hell the crew was multi-racila and mulit-cultural... that alone war risque. Its a legendary series. TNG: Of the series I compare it was my second fav. I loved Data, Picard, Troy, Riker and Worf. Doc Crusher and LeForge they could have kept. But this show hit on all cylindrs for me.. not only because it brought back the series I grew up on.. but it had a strong cast of chars. DS9: Was my Fav series. Sisko made the show... the rest of the cast were good .. but he made it for me. Superior story lines and action kept this one at the top of my list. Voy: While I did like the initial chars of Chekotay and The Doctor, it took a while for Jane way to gro on me. The show almost lost my interest if not for the addition of Seven of Nine. IMO she is the sexiest trek woman ever... I would have loved to be assimilated by her. With her addition and the droping of Tess (whom I hated) the stories got better. Ent: They must have got hold of some bad Romulan Ale when they thought up this concept. I and a lot of my peers assumed the set up for a new series was going to take advantage of the younger , new crowd, and most likely go with a series based from Star Fleet Academy. Remember the last episode of DS9 ... Chief O'Brien was leaving to teach at the accademy..and during that season we were introduced to some hot shot Cadets... I thought it would have been the natural transition. A sort of Star Trek meets Everwood. but allas they have killed Trek for me with this series. It has its moments.. but i dont stress to watch...I only midly like the female Vulcan character whose name i dont even know.

My take on Enterprise, like many others', is that it was a big mistake right from the beginning. For as much as us Trek fans like things sticking to canon and fitting in with the grand scheme of all that is Trek, how could they even attempt such a venture which takes place long before the original series and violating those same facts that established the Trek canon? It just made me ill to see that Berman, Braga, and the studio heads were (and still are) trying to tell us that THIS is the Star Trek show we want to see. Hell, if they would have listened to about half of their audience out there, they would have made a Captain Sulu series following the adventures of the U.S.S. Excelsior. If they think that the anniversary episode of Voyager featuring Sulu and the Excelsior crew was to be in any way a test of how much people wanted such a show (which I'm not sure if this was actually the case or not but only conjecture on my part), they were gravely mistaken since the story was idiotic, and, well, it was on Voyager. (Enough said...sorry Apples! ) I sincerely had hoped that George would have his own show, and I love that time period of Starfleet with the uniforms, the ships, the general Starfleet mentality at the time, etc. By trying to appease to the most people by throwing in tight outfits, nude scenes, etc., they alienated a large portion of their main fan base by taking the route that they did. Would YOU want to see a Star Trek show that even a Trekkie is telling you that it sucks? For some people it's hard enough to get themselves to watch Star Trek or any science fiction for that matter, but not having the main fan base behind the show is just ignorance on the part of those in charge. Nevermind that the show got picked up for another season. The upcoming one will be its last.
Okay, end rant. | |
