I loved that story!!!...It made me want to read more SK.. nod And yeah, the entire part in the supermarket was great, the way the giant bug-octopus-thingamajiggers (whatever they were) would slam into the glass trying to get at them...lol..and I loved the bleak ending, letting your mind imagine some way they could have survived, if the mist had taken over the entire planet yet, etc, etc...Great read. thumbs up!

Yes! the way they were trying to get in lol I'm not sure what they were, giant octopus thingys, he never makes it quite clear. I guess by not describing them absolutely, it made them even scarier.

OMG, I loved The Mist. I still get a little weirded out on foggy days because of that story. But my favorite creepy Stephen King story is "Survivor Type." The one about the guy that gets trapped on a deserted island and has to eat.....well, I won't give it away, but if you get a chance read it! That was THE creepiest story of all time. How does S.K. come up with these things? I'm glad he's a writer, because if he wasn't he would probably have all kinds of people buried in his crawlspace.

Was Creep Show the movie where those goofy white teens went to the lake and that black yucky stuff was in the water? I love that one because at the end, that one guy thought he would just swim back to shore since all his friends were killed by the "stuff". The idiot made it all the way back to shore, but then he just sat there at the edge of the water.....and the "stuff" got him anyway! Hilarious!

Smooches;)

Yes...sorta. That was a Stephen King story (but it wasn't The Mist. That story was in Creepshow 2. Not quite as good as the first, but it has its enjoyable moments smile

I saw this many many years ago. I bought it on DVD not too long ago from the WalMart bargin bin for $5.50.

Not a bad price at all. The bad news is, there's a special edition DVD of Creepshow 2with improved picture and sound coming in a month or two. Shouldn't be too expensive, as it's through Anchor Bay - they like to make good cheap horror DVDs. You can have a bookend set now smile

The Mist? Yeah, I love that one, but it ends so bleakly. I always want to know what happens to them, but it just ends. You just know they get eaten by some giant octopus or something at some point.

That is a great story. Frank Darabont (who adapted the King stories Green Mile and Shawshank Redemption holds the rights to this story and has been trying to get it made for years! *fingers crossed* Supposedly, he's making the screenplay a priority so it can hit the screen in a year or two. I hope so, because it was a great story and has the potential to be a fun B-movie horror show. The ending is a tad bleak, so I don't know how they'd play that out on screen.

love I LOVE "Survivor Type"! Another of my favorite short stories. I've been on a couple of tiny islands where we were the only people on it, and I always joke about having to resort to that. Although we wouldn't have the heroin. hrmph

I'm pretty sure S.K. once said that if he didn't write, he would go insane. I believe it. lol He's actually one of the few people in the world who I'd want an autograph from.

I thought I had heard rumors about that happening. I always wondered how they'd pull it off. It would have to be a B movie though because most people just couldn't take the premise seriously. lol
