Funny thing now you mention it, my brothers friend James shot his own brother in the eye and blinded him when they were younger..

It was pretty much the same living in Salford as a student. I used to read horror stories about people getting shot by even with guns, people wiedling machetes in local chippies, etc. Luckily, the worst thing that happened to me was having a chip buttie thrown at me and my friend by a bunch of local scallys. Trivial in the light of what happened to your friend but all the same, it's terrible that people can't walk the streets in peace.
