Help! I'm being completely serious now. I've seen something completely disgusting on the internet. I typed a completely innocent word into the Google Image Search thing, I clicked on some thumbnails and I was disgusted.
Is there some kind of web-site where you can log stuff like this? I feel bad for clicking on it, but I think it needs reporting.

It was gross. I can't even laugh about it.
I've been online for over five years and I've never seen anything like that. It was fucking disgusting and creepy. I fel bad for clicking on it. I was doing a Google image search and I know some of the images are "racy" but I clicked through all the thumbnails at once and saw something disgusting. I've reported it now, but I feel guilty about even seeing it. If ever this happens to you, go to http://www.asacp.org/reportsite.html I am not impressed at all. I worry about the human race sometimes. I really, really do.

It was children. I feel like burning my hard-drive right now. I'm so angry and upset. I'm upset that I saw something I would never want to see in a million years. I feel dirty for even seeing it. I hate the internet sometimes.

ok, seriously...
if i could, justin, i'd personally be like that dude in the blue fly suit in the MSN ads who follows families around to work and school and physically puts his hands over their eyes and shields them from things they shouldn't see. i'm not saying that to be a smart-aleck. it's clear that you're a very sensitive soul and that when you're confronted with disturbing images, you not only have a very difficult time processing it, but you feel a need to completely erase from existence the possibility of anyone else having to endure the same experience you had. and, you know, that's sweet. seriously. but it's not congruous with the way the world works. and as it exists now, the internet is an intangible or "virtual" reflection of the world. sometimes you'll walk out your door and see a horribly grizzly car accident on your street corner. that can't be moderated. it happens. it's life. sometimes you'll google "fuzzy kittens and unicorns" and the results might be gore and dwarf porn. who can predict these things? they happen. and sad to say, no matter how much you try to push for the world to regulate the amount of bad and unjust things that exist, you'll never ever clean house completely. and, ya know, you have to worry about your own little sphere of existence. what kind of filters does your internet provider offer that might keep these kinds of images off your computer screen in the future? when you look up images on google, do you use the google safe filter? and perhaps more crucially, when you see that little flash of ickiness pop up on the screen, you are always empowered to simply look away and click that little red X on the upper right hand corner of your screen. i know the temptation to look is powerful, but with some discipline and the realization that the consequence is something you can't really digest, you'll be surprised at how quickly that discipline will become habit. sorry you saw something horrible. sorry you can't make it all go away. but you can keep it out of your world to some extent if you really want to.

I don't like the way you mention dwarf porn as if it was a bad thing! Some of my best friends are dwarves.

Once I Googled something, (can't remember what now) and when I clicked on the site, all these images of dead and mutilated babies popped up. It actually made my heart jump and really freaked me out because I wasn't expecting it of course. Not that it wouldn't shock me anyway. I think it was some sort of anti-abortion site, but needless to say, I turned the computer off then and there. But it's not a case of staying out of harm's way. It's not just that my sensibilities were affronted but that in some corner of the world (Czechoslo-fucking-vakia if you're interested) some children are being used as sexual objects. I put a completely innocent word into Google; clicked on the thumbnails and was confronted with something disgusting. I can make it go away - I reported it. As well as the first site I went to, I posted the address to a forum of ethical hackers. I'm just amazed. You hear about this stuff in the media but I've never seen it before tonight. I know the internet isn't regulated; I know it isn't a real place but it's as real as people want to make it. I love you but you're far too liberal at times. I'm all for free speech and self-expression but there is a line.

I too once typed in three completely innocent words and was confronted by filth!
BTW, the words were `nuns`, `humping` and `farm-animals`.

Muffin - I'm over the shock now... I have helped the children because I've broken at least one means of communication to a wider audience. I'm not naive to think that those kids are out of trouble but at least I've done everything I can do. I can't do anything else. I know that on a metaphysical plane, everything is grey - there is no black and white - but I can't afford to live that way in the here-and-now. I just feel bad for having seen it.
