If you're not screwing somebody, why do you care what they look like? I don't understand why people make a big deal about peoples looks if they aren't dating them. Everyone has their own personal preferences of what attracts them sexually to a person but if you are dealing with someone on levels other than dating, why do you care if they are fat or have bad skin or they're bald or short or whatever?
I see people treating other people like shit because they think they're ugly. People should really get to know the content of a person's heart and not judge them based on their dating preferences. 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

I don't care what anyone looks like, even if I was involved with them...what's inside their soul completely transforms what's on the surface in my eyes.

I agree, i try and treat everyone the same.
sometimes it can be hard not to be judgemental in todays society where everything is so image orientated. I personally would be mortified if i thought i had upset someone or made them feel inferiour because of there appearance actually if i just upset anyone fullstop

Seriously, I hate seeing people ridicule others becuase of their looks. There are huge hearts underneath many of those who weren't born as Brad Pitts or Angelina Jolies. Why can't people just deal with each other as humans instead of prizes you're trying to win from the carnival stand? 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

I had a boyfriend whose father thought I wasn't good enough for him because I didn't have an "athletic" enough body. Please. The guy was no Ah-nold himself!

Thank you for this thread, Supa. I cannot begin to tell you how many times I've been called ugly, so much that I believed it. It got to the point of where I thought someone had an ulterior motive if they said I was cute.

Did you just say carnivals...that's a whole 'nother scale 'o ugly, CARNIES!!!
In an ideal world, Supa, of course you're right...people tend to put down others to make themselves feel better about their own inadequacies...it's up to the good people of the world (orgers?) to balance the scales. Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

Whatever you do (not you personally...lol), never let your parents decide who is or isn't "good enough" for you...if their words seem born of sincere love and concern, then by all means take them into account...but nobody, not even the people who brought you into the world and caused you to have life, can determine who effects your heart the most and in the beautiful ways love is supposed to...

I can spell, I swear I can.. My taste in men is interesting because the guys I'm most attracted to are rarely "lookers". The guys I've been madly in love with, others have asked me why I'm attracted to them. I love humor, intellect and a good heart. If the looks are there as well, great but I won't discount dating an average looking guy if he's superior on the inside. 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

I was picked on at school really badly for how i looked and i think that made me a better person
I have been on the recieving end and i know how much words and "looks" can hurt people are often blinded by apearances and we are all guilty of it to some point but to intentionally make others feel bad from the way they look is terrible..... In my job i see so many unfortunate people with disabilitys and deformitys and the storys i have heard about how they have been treated in the community is heartbreaking, and they have already been through so much and have such determined and spirited souls it makes me ashamed to be human sometimes

I know what you mean...when I was in college, there would be certain females I would find myself attracted to...when I told my friends, almost everytime they'd say "Her??", as if they couldn't figure out why I'd be attracted. It's probably why I don't talk too much about those who effect my heart on some level or another, because I don't really feel like having my heart questioned. I've been asked what my "type" is numerous times...and when I say I don't have a "type", very few believe me. It's all about the inner beauty, and I can describe that with ease. ...But an outer "type"??...Nope... Well, besides great legs..lol [This message was edited Fri Aug 27 10:47:04 2004 by Byron]

Honestly, I do think I'm a physically attractive person. But I was such an ugly duckling that to this day I cannot rely on my looks to get me places. I always feel like that ugly kid inside my head, even when I'm lookin fly. It's better that way I suppose, I use my heart and not my looks. That's only a good thing. Oh yeah....almost forgot. Stymies you are beautiful 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

This world is so superficial...
I once worked with a guy...great worker, put in long hours, knew the business inside and out... Whispers around the office said that he wouldn't get his promotion because he, A) Wasn't a looker, the company wanted beautiful people at the top B) He wore white tube socks under his black dress shoes. Two silly-ass reasons to keep a good man from advancing. Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years.
