I liked the movie - especially the bit with David Bowie and his ridiculous fake accent.

A masterpiece.
I had a dream once where i woke up in my bed and turned onto my side and there was BOB knelt done by my side Gives me shivers thinking about it. "London, i've adopted a name that has no pronounciation.... is that cool with you?"
"YEAH!!!" "Yeah, well then fuck those other fools!"

My favorite show of all time! It truly changed my life.
For all you wondering about the DVDs, here's the story. The video rights for TP are actually owned by THREE different companies. WB owns the pilot, New Line owns FWWM and yet another owns the series (as of the moment that I'm writing this, I'm not sure which company that is, since it was just bought by YET ANOTHER company). Originally, all three companies were co-ordinating their efforts to release the whole thing at once. New Line then discovered that they DIDN'T own the rights to the deleted scenes for the DVD (yup, YET ANOTHER company owned those!!! Some bizzare little French group had obtained them years ago). So, a long negotiation ensued, with the French group wanting a hefty price tag to sell New Line back the footage. Since its pretty rare for a studio to have to buy this footage, New Line wasn't too thrilled at the idea. As the negotiations wore on, the owners of the series grew tired of waiting, and thus jumped the gun to release the first season on DVD. Without the pilot, the box set tanked. FWWM was subsequently released, but sans the deleted scenes. It also did poorly. WB, based on these failures, decided to hold off on releasing the pilot film. Now, with a new company owning the series, there is a slight chance that the second season will be released in the near-future (there is actually a release planned for them in Europe, so anything is possible). Still no plans for the pilot, although there is a bootleg that is widely available. As for the deleted scenes, those are still trapped in the Black Lodge... Do not hurry yourself in your spirit to become offended, for the taking of offense is what rests in the bosom of the stupid ones. (Ecclesiastes 7:9)

I should note that the ENTIRE series was released in a VHS box set a few years back. Likewise, the pilot and FWWM were as well (although, newbies take note: the pilot is the European version, which has an "ending" tacked-on that has nothing to do with the story. The footage for the "ending" was included for contractual reasons in Europe, and was later used, in edited form, in a dream Coop has).

WHat I remember most was his wheel barrel of skin. Years later I watched Fire walk with me before I saw the series and when I saw BOB I jumped because HE WAS THE GUY IN MY DREAM! I was totally freaked out. I eventually watched the whole series not long after that. About Season 2.....Season 2 is having it's troubles...I think we'll see it in 2005 when all of the friggin rights (I forgot who has it) belong to one company...and they can release it. Right now the rights are spread across like 3-4 different companies. The biggest claim was that it didn't sell (season 1 DVD), however THAT was at the time before everyone had a DVD player and it was one of the first TV series to do so. It makes me mad cuz there is now a BUILT IN AUDIENCE just waiting to snatch this up. Corporations are stupid. You can sorta get it on ebay...but you need a region free DVD (or region 2 which is what they are on). That's a reason for me to get one. Christian Zombie Vampires

It almost has as much issues as it did when it was on TV. The PILOT IS available. Check Amazon. It's an "Import" but plays fine on my region 1 DVD.The big bitch of the Season 1 DVD is that it's not included. I got it for my Birthday...and asked for the pilot too because you have to see that in order to understand the series. Christian Zombie Vampires

As revealed in season two, "sometimes my arms bend back" refers to the way Laura's arms were tied when she was killed. True, but FWWM still features event that tie into the end of the series (Cooper being trapped in the Black Lodge, his Doppleganger appearing on the camera at the FBI building). I know plenty of people who saw it this way, but its sad to me. Part of the fun is putting all the clues together. Absolutely fucking LOVE Twin Peaks!
I miss shows like this. This is what scripted drama should aspire to, since we're force-fed so much reality crap lately. Addictive, brilliant, and the ability to piss off fans (the ending). Hopefully extras-heavy DVDs will make their way someday beyond all the licensing crap.
