My mom makes me laugh.

I'm missing work on Friday to go to Denver and see Prince. I bought the concert tickets before I planned to move. As they are member tickets, I have to pick them up at will call -- no easy way to unload them without being there. Plus, I haven't missed a Prince show in Denver since 1986. Why start now, right?

ANYHOO -- I was just talking to my mom to let her know when my flight gets in. "What did work say about you being gone so soon?" she asked. Innocent enough. But I know that in Latino Catholic Mom language that really means, "Are you sure you should miss a day of work so soon after you got hired and then already took a vacation because that might make the boss mad and then you would be fired and then you'd be unhappy and miserable and I'm really worried about you living in that scary city and you'd end up homeless and I already worry that you're never going to meet a partner and get married and what is going to happen?????"

OY. Catholicism and growing up poor sure made my mom a worrier. God bless her!!!!

eh, my mom's lutheran and that comment with the background inflection just hinting at everything she's not saying sounds right up her alley. Mom's rock.

My mom makes me laugh, smile, sigh... mushy...her emotions are conveyed so easily within her voice, I love talking to her. heart If I were in your shoes and took some days off after moving and starting a new job, she wouldn't question it, weirdly enough..lol...she'd just say "Well, you deserve it, honey.." love2

Going to see my Mom right now...oh the mistakes she makes with her language...lol

She actually made up a word that we use all the time...Evadentually, to be used
in place of/other than eventually or evidently. lol

"Well, evadentually you're mistaken!"

Gotta luv 'em!
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.
