i left Bermuda for the Uk for a lot of reasons but mostly career development. i did travel some outside of London: Scotland, Brighton, Wales, Manchester, Land's End, Dartmouth etc. and i always found that people are people. there are nice people and bad people. it's how you handle it.

as for working, yes i worked like a dog and was not paid very well but i liked my job and the people that worked for me. my bosses were ass holes and only interested in the pound. yes i was taxed out the ass at the end of the week but i always knew that i wasn't in The UK to make or save money. i had mentally prepared myself for some kind of hardship before going in and i knew that was going to be the case.

having said all that, i would never trade my time in the UK for anything. living some kind of hardship makes you a stronger person in the end; i sure as hell appreciated that last five dollars i had in my pocket and i damn well learned how to stretch it. it is a very beautiful place with a lot of beautiful people. while i was in the Uk i came to meet so many great people that will forever be my good friends. i enjoyed my five years in London and i always contemplate going back (if it wasn't for the lack of sunshine). i didn't go out much simply cuz i was poor most of the time but i knew there was a whole other world out there that i could not get to. eventually i would get to it and it was nice for a time.

oh and one other thing, i also learned to appreciate where i came from like never before. i love my home now more than ever. for years i took all this great stuff i grew up with for granted and never thought twice about it. now i'm giving back to my home. it needs me, so i'm gonna give.

i wouldn't be surprised if one day while you are in the USA with all the gadgets and cable tv that K-Mart can afford you and you look around and you say, "damn i sure wish i was down the pub tonight".

good luck.

If being European means that you dont think that the US is the be all and end all (ie centre of the universe) then I am glad to be one.

There's nothing wrong with the UK ...(sounds of rattling chains)

It's a fine and pleasant land.....

Full of fine, beautiful, intelligent people.....

.....(chains rattle louder...there's a distant, tormented scream).....

Who just like to moan.....

Nothing wrong with UK....

And it's got the best treacle mines in the world!.....

(sound of large metal door slamming...distant scream.....chain rattling stops)

rolleyes I was born in Germany, one side of my family is all in Germany, I've been there many many times, and all over Europe. I'm stating my experience.
You'd be shocked how few Americans are uninformed about Europe. The average American knows a hell of a lot more about Europe than Europeans know about America.
The more I think about this subject the more I feel compelled to vote for Bush. I'm just so sick of wimpiness and this whole attitude. It isn't wise.

Nah....it's a pain.....

The "Camels R Shits" group say I have to wait another month before I can join the support

group and get my special electric Camel transmitter..that transmits deterrents in Camel

language (and hopefully does it better than I can Zpell)....

They say it's due to Morrocan Camels building their own boats from palm trees useing Camel

toe cups to do so....They say their are better pickings in British homes...and the problem is on

the increase....

So I'm stuck to digging this pit....an I'm nearly through to the ceiling of my neighbour below.

I injured my ankle last week an it's still swollen....thanks to one of the idiotic little shits

standing on it when I went for a pee the other night....

(I actually walked out the bedroom and looked for camels the other night....serious)

Anyway it deprives me of sleep a little, but I've seen an invention to get which should help on

my trip to the mine....

Anyway.....thanks fpr asking thumbs up!

So in addition to slagging off two continents you slag off half of your family. lol

I am assuming you must be a kid as you dont think before you open your mouth.

Voting for Bush ? Oh boy.... you've definately lost the plot.

BTW when was the last time you saw your therapist ? I mean you must have one, everyone in the US has one dont they ?

So if Americans know so much about Europe why is it that alot of the annoying yank tourist over here keep saying "How much is that in REAL money ?"
