Last weekend I read an article in one of the papers, I cant remember which one now, about a guy and his girlfreind from this country, who went on a 10 month round the world journey and he had 2 mail something when he was in Cambodia and he got better service there than he has ever got over here!! The thing is our Post Offices deal with everything BUT posting letters, like car tax, passports, cashing of benefits, foreign currency exchange, bill paying, mobile(cell) phone electronic top-ups, etc, no wonder there are always huge long lines at the counters!!!

Also he was in Sydney and he felt more safe going out at night there than he does here.


Before he went on his sabbatical he closed down his phone and internet and TV, and when he got home 2 decided 2 open up these services again and it was a total nightmare dealing with the various companies that he felt like a vacation again after he had finished with them!!!

In the USA, him and his girlfreind were treated like royalty in restaurants!! Over here they always give the impression they cant b bothered 2 serve u, so we very rarely tip!!!

What about the other working conditions in the US then ?

Say holidays... I mean isnt it true that they only get two weeks a year holiday and any more has to be negotiated. I have also heard from people I have met that they have to use holiday days when they are sick !!

In the USA u can sue employers for literally millions in compensation!! U cant do jack shit here!!!!!

By the way Im not saying the working conditions in the UK are brilliant because they are not especially when you compare them to Sweden and Norway (Im a Brit) and Im not looking forward going back because I know my Swedish girlfriend will have to fight hard to get equal pay conditions etc as a man would in her position.

It just winds me up when the Yanks slag us off.
